I also hope it's not bad. Really want Parise to get a cup. Love the guy still, even if I'm sad he's gone.

I got over my dislike for him watching him last playoffs. Guy's an absolute warrior, does everything the right way. There will always be a bit of resentment on my end how he left us, but he's the prototype of athlete I really respect.

Plus the year he missed with the knee when he was still here. That's what happens when you play Zach's style of game though- you're gonna get banged up.

It's too bad because it looked like he was on track for his best season since he played with the Devils on the ZZ Popp line. Parise does play balls out. So injuries can happen. I hope it doesn't have a negative impact on him over the long haul. I always find it sad when former stars just aren't the same. Lecavalier comes to mind. Heatley too. Look at Skinner. He's already a shell. Got number 3 tonight to force OT which the Canes won with J. Staal scoring with under 4 secs left.

Looks like a clear hit from behind from the GIF.

It was more from the side. But iffy and it was Neal. A guy who's been known to do that sorta thing. Did you see Don Cherry blaming the Flyers for McDavid's injury? Good grief.

It also kinda looks like he's pulling up and slowing down on the first GIF. To me, it looks like he's also trying to absorb the hit into himself rather than Parise, and that's why he kinda half piggy backs him. Just my humble .02 seeing the kinda grainy GIF

rumor going in Toronto since Sunday is that Gelinas will be traded. However without a source more than a Swedish journalist who blogs from the Hall of Fame weekend. but he is kind of reliable

From what I can tell, it's a Garrioch rumor that Shero is kicking the tires to see if there's any interest. While Garrioch isn't quite hockeyyinsiderr, he's about as unreliable as you can be and still be published by a real newspaper. I guess it's enough to talk about on a message board on a slow day, but wouldn't put too much stock in it.

I've looked at the video several times and it looks like the idiot being choked is the one who caught it.  The look on the chick to his right (our left) in the video is priceless.  She gets choked a bit too and then looks like she is about to break down all while still grabbing onto that stick for dear life.

After the Niedermayer fiasco a few years ago with him doing the same thing with pretty much same results, who do these players even do this?  Why not just give it to a security guard or usher and point to the fan you want to have it and then be done with it?  Instead we get this crap.

I'd love to say something derogatory about Ranger fans, but the fact is that I think well over half of the fanbases (including ours) would've reacted the same way.  Amazing that people will fight to the near-death over this stuff.

They fight to the death over it because they know they can go put it on eBay and make a sh!tload lol. I can almost guarantee suit guy there would've sold that stick, and that's why he was holding on to it like that. Edited by MadDog2020

Yup and it's good money too. I've seen recently nicely photomatched Marty game used sticks go for $800-1500.

So . . . who ended up with the stick. Apparently, Lundqvist. The New York Daily News late Tuesday confirmed what the end of the video showed, that ushers decided that if the fans couldn’t play nice with the stick, then nobody could have it, and they took the stick back to the Rangers locker room.

I get that part of it, but the fans going to those games and sitting in that area are likely doing OK financially.  They don't need the money that badly.  And at the end of the day, it's just a friggin' hockey stick...yeah, of course it's fun to get your hands on something like that and it makes for a good conversation piece, and I would love it if someone gave me a game-used Marty stick, but fvcking FIGHTING over it to the level those people were is just ridiculous to me.  And good for the ushers...you all want to act like a bunch of children, then fvck you, you all lose.  Sucks for guys like Lundqvist and Niedermayer in that they do something spontaneous and cool and just want to create a nice moment for some fans, and those fans have to act like complete a$$holes immediately.

And what's even sadder is even if someone had been awarded the stick (say suit guy), I could see one of the others involved in the initial fracas fighting him over it in the concourse:  "I had my hands on dat stick furst!  Dat's my stick...ay, gimme dat!"

Haha. Rangers suck, the end.

And here's something else...imagine if someone had actually gotten hurt by the stick after it came down?  Had gotten hit in the eye or something?  Or gotten hurt during that scrum?  Crazier sh!t has happened.  Oh the lawsuits...

In that case the guy would have been escorted out with security.  Stadiums have done it before with stuff like this to prevent exactly what you described.
