New York Mets 2016 Season Thread

He was robbed in his 2nd AB.

Funny, for all of the Ks, Syndergaard has had some rotten luck tonight.

Tim Timmons is a bit of a punk btw.

Yelich will get ripped for that attempted steal of 3rd, but that just shows how no one respects d'Arnaud's arm.  In a way I can understand why he tried it.

The Marlins really don't respect Travis's arm   Were they going to have Yelich try to steal home too?  Sheesh, at least that CS got us out of the inning.

Gotta admit, I'm losing faith in d'Arnaud.  Not in his bat...I think that will come around.  But he really is not that great behind the plate.

No they don't and I think the book on Travis having a wild arm is out throughout the majors...to his credit it looks like he's worked on it in the offseason. He did gun out a guy earlier in the year and got Yelich at 3rd. But teams will run on him until he definitively proves that they can't.

His future is either in the outfield or 3b.

Nice throw Lucas. 6 months too late.

Was just thinking the same exact thing, lol.  Marlins clearly don't respect the Met infield.

Wow, yet another Wright K.  Our fearless loser.

I already hate this team.

I agree, I said the same thing a while back.  I think he's going to have a much more developmental-type season, complete with growing pains.

It's so early that I don't want to go too crazy dishing out blame, but I think the Terry Collins watch will start very soon if this team doesn't turn it around.

When I said I didn't think TC would be fired this year I also didn't think there'd ever be a stretch where the team was THIS bad lol

This is getting to be like a Bobby V 1999 first half, or a Willie 2008 first half where something's going to give eventually.

It's sh!t throughout, no doubt.  Yeah, time for some pine-ridin'.

Tough one tomorrow with Verrett on the mound. They'd better bust out of their hitting slump and soon. They've taken this embarrassing start about as far as they can take it.

I'm guessing Long will get canned before Terry does.  Always easy to replace the hitting coach.

As much as I'm not a TC guy, and as much as I think this is all too big for him, outside of not really having his team ready and rarin' to go, not much can really be put on him.  These guys should be hitting enough to at least be middle-of-the-road.

If the hitting doesn't pick up though (even after Long would be let go), I don't what other "shake up the team" card Sandy could play, other than to change the manager.  The team seems pretty set, and there's no ready-to-burst-onto-the-scene minor-league bat at Vegas right now.

I'm definitely worried about Cespedes if this team digs itself a deep hole and needs a big month or two to recover...that guy has frontrunner written all over him.  I could see him going through the motions very easily.

Michael Fulmer with 5.2 scoreless innings (7 K) in his 2016 AAA debut.  Parnell pitched a scoreless inning in that one too (1 H, 1 BB, 2 K).  Can't imagine what Blue Jay fans are thinking when they see what Syndergaard is doing...

The Mets are really easy to pitch to because they don't have much that is to be distinguished from from top to bottom. They all basically have the same approach. There is not one scrappy hitter in the mix. They all go about their business the same way. It's calculated but ineffective. They need to make some moves that makes this lineup tough to face. None of these guys are horrible they just aren't good collectively. Other than DW who I believe is fried I think we have pretty good hitters. We need to mix up the lineup a bit and get some battlers.  They are incredibly easy to pitch to. That's why they make an ace out of everybody. They need a philosophy change from the  top down.
