They all basically have the same approach. There is not one scrappy hitter in the mix. They all go about their business the same way. It's calculated but ineffective. They need to make some moves that makes this lineup tough to face. None of these guys are horrible they just aren't good collectively. Other than DW who I believe is fried I think we have pretty good hitters. We need to mix up the lineup a bit and get some battlers. They are incredibly easy to pitch to. That's why they make an ace out of everybody. They need a philosophy change from the top down. What I don't get is the way Sandy blatantly ignores strikeouts. He keeps bringing in strikeout-prone hitters, and - "Voila!" - the Mets strike out a lot. The good news is the Mets can't possibly continue to be THIS bad...they're slashing .187/.280/.249 (.528 OB+SLG), which simply isn't sustainable in its awfulness. This would be like an NHL team scoring a little over a goal per game over the course of an entire season. Re: Wright, if someone told me he'd be slashing .273/.429/.409 through seven games (six for him), I would've signed up for that in a heartbeat...but of course, since the guy is a cinch to fail in an RBI spot, those numbers don't feel nearly as good as they look. His failures really affect this team and have a way of poisoning the lineup...just look how much they didn't miss him last year. But as we've all said endless times already...the other guys need to start hitting NOW. And of course Wright sets the tone by...striking out. Any reason why Flores couldn't have gotten in today? I know he's 0-for-7, but geez. And $27.5 million strikes out as well. Edited April 13, 2016 by Colorado Rockies 1976
'7'
That's why I wanted somebody like Prado. Why having someone like Gordon helps so much. Even if they dont get on base...they wear a pitcher out with constant foul balls...look at Gordon last night. When the Mets O isnt going well we're just too "good morning, good afternoon, goodnight" But overall let's not be deceived. This offense may be odd but they're not THIS bad. They will be middle of the back and they'll get around to hitting some home runs eventually. Down the line I think Conforto will be a tough out. Same with Dom Smith, maybe Nimmo too and Plawecki. Colorado Rockies 1976
Middle of the pack over the course of a regular season with some HR power, definitely. But uber-vulnerable against good arms...and VERY K-prone as well.

I don't understand why David isnt on a catcher type schedule though (i.e. sit a day game after a night one)

Good that Flores is at least in there. This is an important year for him, from a "What is he REALLY?" standpoint. And yeah, Wright should've sat today. Can't see chilly weather day after day being a good thing for him. Verrett trying his best... NJDevs4978
With all the dreck in big league rotations (cough Mike Pelfrey cough) Verrett needs to get a shot to stick in someone's rotation at some point.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Mets might need Verrett for now...Matz might need a AAA refresher course, and who knows about deGrom.
NJDevs4978
Yeah he might get a prolonged chance with us if things go sideways with someone but in an ideal world he's #6-7 while he's in our organization.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Another K for Cespedes...thanks for nothing, AGAIN. And of course the Mets don't get anyone home with the bases loaded and one out. Of fvcking course. 7 Ks through 4 innings. Bunch of fvcking clowns... NJDevs4978
How can an entire team be this unclutch? Watching the Mets try to score is once again like watching the Devils try to score. Edited April 13, 2016 by NJDevs4978

In some odd way I have to admire them...they killed ALL of the good feelings generated by last year before the first homestand was even finished. Bravo, well done. Feel for ya Logan... Colorado Rockies 1976
Logan pitching a gem and these fvcking zilches can't plate so much as one friggin' run. Alright Yoenis! Three Ks and counting on the day! And Walker follows suit with a K of his own (his 2nd). 9 Ks on the day for the team. 46 hits as a team through right now, 70 team K. That's as fvcking unwatchable as it gets. Edited April 13, 2016 by Colorado Rockies 1976
'7'
Terry going right back to Henderson after a heavy inning yesterday and he's imploding again. Zero control
Colorado Rockies 1976
And of course the idiot manager's first choice out of the pen is the guy who threw 34 pitches yesterday.

nmigliore
What a silly move to turn to Henderson. He looks completely tired. He's sitting 89-90 this inning. This is a guy who averaged 95+ on Opening Day... Edited April 13, 2016 by nmigliore

Colorado Rockies 1976
Just now, '7' said: 2-6 here we come One good thing that could come out of this is that Sandy will finally realize Amateur Terry is in over his head...he has no business managing a potential contender. In fairness, Sandy kind of knows that already, but he hopefully he's seeing that Terry makes one too many baffling moves for a team looking to win it all. nmigliore
Well at least Robles was the right call there after the Henderson mess; highest strikeout rate of anyone in our 'pen last season in a situation where strikeouts were needed. Colorado Rockies 1976
And Robles and Blevins bail out the Amateur.
