Sheesh. Nothing surprises me anymore. Plus you know a lot of guys that take (or have taken) roids take it to recover, not necessarily to bulk up. Maybe Gordon was this little dude who always got dinged up the roids helped him recover quicker and not deal with nagging pulls/sprains as much It's amazing how obvious it is now looking back at mid to late 90's highlights on youtube. I mean Ken Caminiti looked like a Gronkowski brother. Giambi looked like Mark Gastineau circa 1985
'7'
A 12 run inning. Unreal!

Geez I didn't know it was all in one inning...wow. I wonder when's the last time that happened? The only double-digit inning I remember was the crazy comeback against Atlanta in the Bobby V era where we got ten in an inning I think down 8-1. Colorado Rockies 1976
According to the Mets broadcast team, that 12-run inning set a new benchmark for the Mets. They had never scored that many in one inning before. Montero with a meh outing for Vegas last night (99 pitches thrown in 5 innings), but due to the 51s scoring 11 runs in the first two innings, he got the win. Not much to be impressed about with Montero so far...basically he gets into trouble, but then clamps down and finds ways to minimize the damage. Here it would likely be a different story...major league hitters will make him pay. Nice job by Matz to turn in 6 scoreless, but he needed 110 pitches to do it. Would be nice to see SOMEONE turn in an unlabored 7-8 inning effort eventually.
capo
Moving Conforto up in the lineup has made a huge difference. Mix in a hot Cespedes and damn... here we go...
Colorado Rockies 1976
Conforto is like the anti-Wright. Guy is just rolling right now.
NJDevs4978
At least Flores is better defensively than Wright - oh wait...
Colorado Rockies 1976
Goddamnit Wilmer. You're doing a hell of a job trying to become an afterthought this season.
Colorado Rockies 1976
And yet another game where the starting pitcher is laboring.
'7'
freaking Flores. This inning was over. And now we'll be lucky to get 5 out of deGrom if he doesn't implode here. That said Conforto is a beast. With Conforto, Walker, and Cespedes we can have 3 guys with 100+ rbi Lucky ducksnort to right and it's 4-3. Thanks Wilmer. This game should've been on cruise control. NJDevs4978
People were all worried about deGrom's velocity, that's been there but zero location so far...four walks already. Lucky to get out of the inning if that call stands.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Weird game for deGrom for sure...he rarely has control issues. So pissed at Wilmer right now.
'7'
Conforto with a solo shot. Missed another one by about 2 inches before. He's going to be in the early MVP discussion. Off the charts good.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Finally...something goes Wilmer's way.
NJDevs4978
His first Citi Field HR since THE WALKOFF, which I was at lol I was supposed to be at today's game too but wound up having to stay home (sold the ticket this morning) cause of some maintenance work in the basement that's taking all day long, oh well
'7'
Such an annoying, pesky team the Giants are. Henderson has trouble closing the door. Looks incredible and then like night and day loses it.
'7'
This game is getting worrisome. The Giants and their damn walks and long AB's
NJDevs4978
Terry should have got the hook one batter earlier, you knew this wouldn't end well for Reed after the Duffy AB.
'7'
Love Robles pointing to the sky when the guy comes within an inch of hitting a grand slam. Yikes. Just gotta try to get out of this inning no worse than tied,
'7'
And AGAIN Robles nearly gives up a home run. Nice play Granderson. Robles walking a tightrope here. And now a base hit. I would pull his ass PRONTO!
NJDevs4978
lol NONE of the three setup guys distinguished themselves today. One of those days I guess, the Mets' pen had been pretty good up to today. Hopefully Blevins can bail their ass out and at least get it to Familia. '7'
Nice job Blevins. Let's just get an insurance run and hand it to Familia.
Colorado Rockies 1976
The Mets haven't given up more than three runs during this winning streak. Sometimes it's just one of those days where not everything is clicking. Hope Familia can nail it down.
'7'
I have no doubt that Murph somehow bungles that DP grounder. Nice play overall, not easy to turn two with Pagan running. Awful throw Wilmer despite plenty of time, but Duda comes off the bag and gets the tag. Like pulling teeth today but they get it done.
