To be fair to DSP going by the numbers it looks like he's never really been given much more than a 4th line role. Granted maybe he didn't earn anything more than that, but I imagine he'll see a bump in TOI here... so he could be a pleasant surprise.

true but that was on a stacked offensive team in MTL

I don't get why Matteau was even drafted. It made no sense this guys dad was a Devils mortal enemy, I was disgusted seeing that name on the back of a Devils sweater...and he never had much offensive upside to begin with. Lou basically drafted a poor mans Mike Rupp. Just awful awful awful from the start. Rags will probably trade a 6th for him in the offseason in typical Rag fashion once he flames out in Montreal.

Pelly is nothing special. He will be turning 24 in the offseason. He's had some small streaks of promising play but he has 12 goals in his last 120 games. He's not good. Fringe NHL player.

He was drafted right around where almost every mock said he'd be.  2012 also looks like it's going to be one of the weaker drafts in recent memory, especially from a depth standpoint.  I think Severson is maybe one of two or three players drafted in the second round that's had more than a cup of coffee in the NHL thus far.

I also disagree about the name on the back of jersey disgusting me.  If anything, if he turned into an effective player that would have made it even better.  Imagine him scoring a goal to eliminate the Rags from the playoffs while he's playing for the Devils.  Would totally confuse Ranger fans.  His dad having to go to games at MSG wearing Devils stuff if his son were any good would be pretty awesome also.

Alas... wish Lou gave up the pick.  Not a bad chance we'd have had Dylan Larkin.

I remember liking what I saw out of DSP when he was in a Ducks sweater, especially in the playoffs playing in the physical Western Conference.

Just like Palmieri was looking like a 3rd line player in Anaheim (and proved to be more), I think Smith-Pelly can do some decent things for us. More than Matteau seemed to be capable of.

Matteau had some flashes this season but sputtered out again.  It was only a matter of time before he would be riding the pine again.  I'm excited for Smith-Pelley and to see him in action.

Might be very much too soon for this but,  In Shero We Trust!

Tampa has said that they're looking to move him before the deadline. This is a team with a chance at a cup, and having an asset like Drouin rotting into his couch instead of improving your team would be silly. They lose a huge portion of their offense July 1st, it's not an overstatement to say that this may be their best chance at a cup for long time.

They lied. And well, that's how Yzerman operates. Treats players like dirt. I feel like he and that arrogant coach decided to punish Drouin. And well, it was the act of that idiot agent Walsh that turned this into a mess. They'll deal him at the Draft and get a good return. Watch.

Overall, quite pleased. Got a RW (need bodies there) for a LW who wasn't playing, a 3rd for a dman who wasn't playing and a 2nd + a 4th for Stempniak. Would've liked to see more assets coming in, but I'm also OK with extending Schlemko if the deal is reasonable.

I'd give Schlemko two more years without a second thought.

I get the feeling that he's coming back and will be indeed get a two or three year deal.  A lot of red flags with him...the most important one being that he's never shown much ability to stay healthy in the past.  And he's probably having a career year.  But of course this and other factors likely mean he's not going to cost much money at all...he definitely has bargain potential.  Shero should be able roll the dice on this one and get a decent return.
