Vesey signs with Rangers.

How could anyone be shocked by our  (devil) fans booing anyone? They love to hear themselves boo.  You can never claim Devils fans are "classy".  Just not in our DNA.   They booed the damn owners.  What jackasses.

If he wants to be "close to home", and Boston is his home, and Boston was clearly the better team last year, why on earth would he pick the Devils??

Why's he bothering to meet with these teams at all, then?  Clearly that's not the way he's thinking about it, otherwise the ink would be dry on a contract.

But it's all we keep hearing, he wants to be close to home, and Boston is on his list. And he played his college hockey at Harvard. If he doesn't sign in Boston I will be somewhat surprised.

Hopefully pleasantly so and we can slap the red & black on him.

Interesting how you separate yourself from "the fans". We all must look so tiny from that high horse you're on.

I'm a devoted devil fan. I'm also a hockey fan overall.  It pisses me off when folks boo Bettman, and I know in the minority there. I just wish some of our fans would grow the hell up. That's all I'm saying

so Chicago is bringing Toews... Pittsburgh probably brought Crosby... Islanders are bringing Tavares... Toronto is bringing Matthews to the meeting...

if you could pick who would you send for us? I think i'd send Schneider.. he's our best player who's been through joining the team and adopting the new culture and all. Plus he's from Boston

i mean Hall is our best players but he doesn't know much and quite frankly he sounds pretty bummed and just say the "right things" to the media. he doesnt look excited at all. Maybe he's just low key like that though lol

Not to derail the thread, but are there any other unsigned college FA's of interest? With Vesey dominating the headlines might it be a good time to sign some under the radar type players? Don't want to put all our eggs in one Vesey.

Not really, no.  There's a few other guys out there but 4 year college players generally aren't that good.

Pittsburgh was the only team to not bring a player.  Sounds like the Devils brought Schneids & Palms.

For what it's worth I looked up 5-6 guys that were on the list (especially according to when they were drafted). And there's probably a good reason they weren't signed. Vesey was taken 66th, and next guy was 68.  He didn't have a good year at all.  There might be more college guys that went undrafted that could get PTO?

TG retweeted/mentioned the Caps 2012 4th round pick is drawing some interest:

Interest from half dozen teams in Notre Dame free agent winger Thomas DiPauli. He & Jimmy Vesey have same agents. Won't be on market long.

he looks PISSED off, and thats a good thing.  He has a chip on his shoulder after what Edmonton did to him and hopefully that lights a fire under his ass.

"Close to home" is relative in this case. Relative in the sense that, on a leaguewide scale, he's not playing in Vancouver or San Jose or even Nashville. On Christmas Eve for example, he can take a train from Jersey and be back home in Boston in an hour and a half in time for "A Christmas Story" marathon to begin haha

He told Detroit he wants to stay "closer to home."  Detroit isn't exactly all that far from Boston (2 hour flight to be precise).  So, I would think that if that's the case, he isn't going to play for Chicago or Toronto.  Maybe he does elect to play for the Bruins or one of the Metro-area teams.

well you kind of look at the whole picture too going through the process i imagine... "there i'd be closer but less chance of winning..." "there i'd be a bit farther but i know i'd be on a playoffs team with a chance at the cup"

I think he signed with NJ. I just have a feeling the direction NJ is going, a roster spot, family ties and 3:30 drive to Boston makes it appealing.

i wish too but based on that, why not the Islanders tho? their core and prospect pool is just as good as ours... and they are better at the moment too. well they lost okposo and we got Hall. now i guess it's up in the air but you know

Our jerseys are cooler. Just sayin'.

i mean... since he's a Bruins fan... there's no way he's been thrilled with their management over the last few years... there's no way. So that's something that could go in our favour.

Also eventhough it's probably all bullsh!t... it seems like were allllways mentioned in the top3 and we've been there since the start... other teams got in later but we've always been there and still rumoured to be in (again, all speculation but still feels good to see the name out there)

Saw an SNY article that 'celebs' were tweeting him to pick the rangers. Made me barf last night. I'm OK if he doesn't pick us, never really expected it, but hope he doesn't pick nyr. Then if he does, I'll have to wish his career is a flop...
