Gamecenter Devils

I've been a gamecenter user for 4 years since I moved out of NJ. I'm not sure how you would check but if I were you I'd make absolutely sure the blackouts wouldn't apply- maybe contact gamecenter service before ordering?

You would be able to watch every game except for ones nationally televised (which for the Devs aren't many) or ones that are available to you on local TV- so for you in south NJ I would assume that would mean any games against the Flyers would be blacked out and you would have to watch on TV.

As far as quality I rarely have issues, sometimes I'll watch through PS3 but most of the time on a laptop/desktop. Its never as crisp as 1080p but I personally don't have an issue with it, occasionally there will be times when it buffers but not too bad. Also if you can;t watch live you can get every game on replay anytime usually within an hour of the game's finish.

Overall I would recommend.

Edit: It looks like nhl has a convenient tool to check to make sure blackouts wouldn't apply: https://www.nhl.com/info/nhltv-blackout-detector

I live in Orlando so this service is a must if I want to watch games. I cut the cable so center ice isn't an option. Not a fan of streaming sites.

Lately it's been great as we don't have many nationally televised games. Only one blackout besides Tampa games for me. Being in Souty Jersey you'll probably have all of the games against the Flyers blacked out as well as the nbc sports game.

Thanks the info guys, I had one more question are you able to dvr? or rewind the game like on a traditional dvr?

Sometimes I come home late from work, and its awesome skipping commercials!

You can choose to start watching a game from the beginning instead of jumping in live, you can also fast forward and rewind

Yes, if a game is live you have the option of starting from the beginning and fastforward/rewinding. Although in the past there has been glitches I've run into that when the game ends and I'm still watching it kicks me out of the game, and I have to go back in or even wait until the VOD is loaded into "the vault" but that might have been fixed as I haven't used that feature in awhile.

If you're watching a game in "the vault"- which means its a completed game- you can also ffwd/rewind or have the option of just watching an extended highlights version.

I'm also in South Jersey, I had Comcast & NHL Center Ice a couple years and the only blackout were when they played the Flyhers. But then that was on CSN, so you should be good to go.

I just switched to Direct TV & will see what the dif is this season, but it looks like CenterIce is available on it and their Genie box looks like it'll record em for me.

If your in South Jersey you will receive all the msg channels on DirectTV. I'm not sure why. But you'll get all the Devils Games.  That's all I was saying. No more expensive then comcast, but it's a much bigger move than getting Center Ice or Gamecenter.

Ah, I just looked, the Premier (read "most expensive") DirectTV package has all the MSG channels, but the rest of their packages do not. Probably go with Center Ice in this case.

Masked; I have DirecTV and live in south florida. Can't find any info on DirecTV packages. IF it's not too much trouble, could you give me an idea of what I'll be shelling out / the differences between packages?

DirecTV is a funny deal. .I had DirecTV for 19 years with Standard Definition.(SD) with a dish on roof 2 feet from the bottom of the roof. Then last season I decide it was time to upgrade to HD (High Definition) that require a different dish. DirecTV refused to install a HD dish on my roof because it had to be put higher on the roof. Can you imagine? My neighbor shad HD DirecTV install on the top of their roof two years ago and one year ago but DirecTV says their is now an OSHA issue. Of course this happen after ATT bought DirecTV..So be careful changing packages. I had to go to Optimum that doesn't have the football package but has all the Devils games. Happy about that but must go to a sports bar to watch my football team NE Pats, I am in NJ.

That story sucks; but I already have HD DirecTV. I'm just looking for info on the difference between getting a package that includes MSG/MSG+ or a Center Ice package, cost-wise

Honestly, just get gamecenter and watch either on your xbox/ps4 (if you have one) or thru an HDMI. It's HD, the streaming quality has improved and you can watch anywhere on multiple devices. As recent as last season, CI wasn't even HD. GCL will set you back roughly $150 for the season.

Yeah, the intro amount is like $125/mo, which translates to probably ~ $175 for existing customers. That is garbage imo, but that is what they do, they DON'T reward loyalty at any of those companies. YOU MIGHT be able to talk a customer service rep into giving you the deal though.

go to their site and type in your zip and look at the package pricing, should show you what package you gotta go with. This one is called Premier here

most expensive, like 350 channels or something

To throw in my perspective - I live out in Allentown, PA and Gamecenter was a joke last year.  Every game against the Penguins and Flyers was blacked out (regionally) and it just so happens the majority of the games against the Rangers were often on NBC or NHL Network and were also blacked out. So I had to look for 'shady' streams to watch all the above games.

To their credit, I called around February and.. expressed my frustrations.. and they gave me a full refund for the entire season. So that was nice.

Allentown isn't too far from Philly, like an hour and change. DIdn't you get CSN Philly?

As an aside, I'm moving to Morristown and can't wait to have the Devils locally. Been in South Jersey my whole life.

I'm one of those millennials that doesn't pay for cable - Netflix and Amazon Prime get me by with everything except sports coverage.

And, coincidentally, I'm actually looking at Morristown for my next step too.  I miss being in NJ.

I'm not buying it this year because my interest in watching other teams other then the Devils has really gone away over the years but I actually prefer center ice because  if I wasn't home I could dvr some games and get through them a lot quicker with  fast forwarding on the dvr. The fast forwarding on gamecenter is rather awful.
