GDT Pre-season: 9/28; Devils @ Philly; 7PM

Recommended Posts

I'll be in attendance with some friends tonight - the PPL center is actually a pretty good spot to catch a game.

Hoping Hall and/or Zacha make an appearance, but I suspect that since they played the other night they won't be dressed.

Plus as someone said earlier here (forgot who exactly), the mandatory 8-vet dressed rule is not in effect because of the WCOH so they are allowed to do this.

I'll keep a close eye tonight on Wood, Bastian and Q.

And Speers! Anyone know if this is on GCL or NHL.TV or whatever it is now?

Haha, judging from the lack of third period comments, seems like people checked out here.  I mostly did too.   Some takeaways -

Merrill on the right side is going to be a struggle.  He had multiple plays where if a right-handed defender had been in his place he probably would've been okay.

Josefson on the RW didn't really do anything.

Most impressive to me was Miles Wood, who I did not get to see play for the Devils last year because I missed the final game of the season.  He can fly and he is going to make right-side D in the AHL miserable.

Speers and Gignac did some stuff I liked.  Gignac can really skate.

On D, I liked some of Colton White's reads.   He didn't look terribly out of place.

Blandisi has to stop taking dumb penalties but he's got some great ideas in the offensive zone.  His balance looks to have improved also.
