JUST ANNOUNCED: Today the #NJDevils signed 2016 6th-round pick (162nd overall) Jesper Bratt to a three-year ELC.

As I mentioned on HF, he most likely plays in the CHL this season.

He hasn't been drafted anywhere yet, possible he could get selected in the Import Draft this summer though.

I'm sure Mr. Shero could have someone pick him up.  we can keep an eye on him.

Does the CHL have dibs on him, i.e. if a CHL team drafts him, does he have to play for them, or can the Devils assign him to the AHL?

I'm rather sure the Devils could choose where they would like him to play, so we would have the option of assigning him to Albany or the CHL.

If I were a betting man, I'd say he doesn't get selected in the Import Draft. A team that selects would likely only get one year of usage out of him, unless it's a team like Mississauga who believes adding someone like Bratt could put them over the edge for a championship, I think most teams in the Import Draft are going to select someone they can get 2-3 seasons out of.

When could we pencil in Rykov into the lineup for the devils?

2020 at the earliest, Rykov is under contract with SKA through the 2018-19 season. Hopefully by the time his contract is up he's overripe and ready for a significant NHL role for us

OHL import draft is today.

Mark Scheig‏ @THWMark

London takes Swedish winger Jesper Bratt. He's NJD 6th rounder in 2016.

Not surprised it's London that took him. CHL teams were only gonna be able to get a year, maybe two out of him, so it makes sense it's a team that feels they're close to winning a championship.

The Knights also took Adam Boqvist, Jesper Boqvist's younger brother. Offensive minded defenseman, projects as a 1st Rounder next year.

Is Fiesty or someone else going to keep us up to speed on Development Camp? invitee's? etc. Are there 8 players coming from Princeton ?

Inquiring minds need to know.

I'll do my best to keep an updated invite list. It's kind of funny that it seems invites to prospect camp used to leak out on twitter more under Lou then Shero though (or at least it seems that way). So far I've only found one invite: Nicolas Guay (Source - EliteProspects Profile) from Drummondville (QMJHL).

Hockey Prospect list him as a C/RW at 5'11, 174 and had him ranked 157th overall for this past draft. He just turned 18 on 6/18. His rookie season in the Q in 2015-16 was spent in a 4th line role with Chicoutimi where he had 3 goals and 6 assists in 37 games. He left Chicoutimi and spent the 1st half of the 2016-17 season with the EC Salzburg Academy (Red Bull Academy) in Austria. In one game with the U18 team he had 2 goals and an assist. In 15 games with the EC Salzburg II team he had no goals an assist but did get to play against grown men that had professional experience. Age range of that league last year was 15-43 according to EliteProspects. He returned to the Q to play for Drummondville in the 2nd half of the season and in a more utilized role had 10 goals and 13 assists in 35 games. He also had a 9.71 SH% and 2.94 SH/GP in that stretch. Hockey Prospect likes his skills and smarts, said he improved his skating last year, but he still needs to add strength. Interesting prospect though.

Only 2 additional invitees to development camp this year:  https://www.nhl.com/devils/news/devils-2017-development-camp-roster/c-290308492

ETA: Two of the players have been invited on a try-out basis, Nicolas Guay (Drummondville, QMJHL) and Robert Carpenter (Boston College, HE), the son of former Devil Bobby Carpenter, who won Stanley Cups in 1995 as a player and 2003 as an Assistant Coach.

Also, FYI, per AG:

There will be a three-on-three scrimmage on July 12 at 10 a.m. and a full scrimmage on July 15 at noon. The Devils said there were no tickets remaining for the Saturday scrimmage.

There are still spots for fans to try to reserve seats for the Wednesday scrimmage by signing up here.  https://newjerseydevils.formstack.com/forms/devils_development_camp_3v3_scrimmage_waitlist

ETA: Sorry if this is supposed to be in a new thread? I can't remember if there's a separate Dev Camp thread normally?

Mike Morreale‏ @mikemorrealeNHL

NJD prspct Jesper Boqvist scores for SWE; NJD prospect Aarne Talvitie scores for FIN. Tie game in first of WJSS. @NJDevils mania

It honestly feels weird to have such a stacked prospect group of forwards. It's especially cool that Talvitie, a 6th round pick, is looking like he has got some talent.

Back in the Lou/Conte days, we wouldn't even dream of hearing that Ben Thomson was on a top line of any team in any tournament. At best, we'd hear about a brutal fight and game misconduct.

Haha yup but in this case weird is very good!  Speaking of stacked prospects at forward, it's US vs Canada at 7p tonight on the NHL network and Joey Anderson is on the top line for the US & Mikey McLeod is playing top line center for Canada

Anderson got a hat trick last night, as the US beat Canada 7-5 in the final game of the World Junior Summer Showcase.
