If you are a tanking fan this was a euphoric road trip, it doesn't get much better than losing to Colorado and Arizona.

I'm trying to hide my pleasure from the result of this road trip.

I mean, listen.. maybe pleasure isn't the right word, I hate when the Devils lose.  But everyone here knows my take on the tanking thing, and this trip was HUGE in that regard.

I've been playing around with nhllotterysimulator.com a lot lately. Being third-worst seems to yield a top 3 pick about 50% of the time, and would probably be more if not for Vegas coming in with the same odds (but with the fact that we will probably try to snipe away some players that Anaheim or Tampa can't protect, I don't mind it). I hate watching games like the Colorado one (and the first period of last night's game), but moving up in draft position with a significant chance at 1st overall is an okay consolation. As a lot have been saying, we really badly need top bottom out at least once and get some top tier talent, may as well be now.

Sucks that we don't have our own third round pick, but having Colorado's cancels that out. Thanks Eric Gelinas.

Sportsclubstats now says:

26% chance the Devils finish 25th or better

14% chance of finishing 26th

21% chance of finishing 27th

35% chance of finishing 28th

5% chance of finishing 29th

28th is looking good!!!!. no way do we play the field bet (25th or better)

Haha, I was watching that Detroit-Arizona game, what a roller coaster - I think Detroit winning is probably better for the Devils because they're just not likely to catch Arizona, even though it would be huge if they did (since they move up 2 spots that way).

WIN: -2

BUF:  -3

DAL:  -4

DET:  -4

VAN:  -5

NJD:  -5

ARI:  -9

Yeah, I wish last night was the last night of the season lol. End on a high note and retain 28th.

Nice loss today.

Vancouver and Dallas need to step it up

Most non playoff teams have also embraced 'The Suck'... looks like all the bottom dwellers have gone to their audition plans of using minor leaguers/prospects. Vancouver esp has been embracing the suck with like 8  straight losses and their schedule is mostly against  winning/playoff teams so can't let them finish lower than the Devs.

The league loves CHICAGO... the refs and Toronto threw the game for them on a clearly offsides score. It is absolutely getting ridiculous on the Referees and rulings in games which the video tape proves the big con.

Decent look now, as teams are starting to pull away from the Devils here, I've removed Buffalo and Winnipeg because they are 6 points up on NJ with 11 to go:

DAL:  -4

DET:  -4

VAN:  -6

NJD:  -7

ARI:  -11

It's getting more and more improbable that they finish higher than 24th - Sportsclubstats has it at 6% right now that they finish at 24th or above, while they are a whopping 79% to finish between 26th and 28th.
