Imagine if Harper gets a call-up and he and Quincey get into a scuffle, and Harper's helmet comes off.  Are there any winners here?

Pretty sure if they both get punched in the face, everyone wins.

Go read the NJDevils insta page or Facebook page. It's mortifying

The comments about Pride Night and the rainbow-taped warmup used sticks on the NJ Devils official Facebook page is enough to want to nuke our fanbase.  I think you can imagine the kind of comments that were in there.

I'm going to just.. pretend.. that they were welcoming, encouraging, and very progressive.

I had noticed on the instagram the comments were getting so vile that the Devils were finally starting to delete them. Someone even made a comment about it being ridiculous that we " had a Pride Night to celebrate the gays but what we really should do is cater to the fan base that we truly have which is white and have a white pride night." They went on with it for a few posts too. It was pretty disgusting.

As a member of the LGBTQ community, it was pretty sad to see the trash these people posted. I'm glad I went to the game because all the fans were fantastic and the team did a great job with the night. Only wish the game poster had a connection to the night but that's okay. Well, I also wish the team won too.

Alas, I digress....

Facebook comments of any variety on any subject generally just make me want to go live in a bunker somewhere in isolation. People are unbelievable. Side note, I was pretty disappointed with the fact that those pride night shirts were sold out practically immediately. I was going to pick one up but they were all gone by the first intermission.

Getting back on topic, I basically see Ray's time here like this: so far, most of what he's done has gone to the thrift shop, picked up a pile of scraps for nothing, then sold it on eBay for double... today, he pretty much only broke even (if that.) It was definitely an underwhelming day but it was never about today. It's about this offseason, where we're going into it with 11 picks, some of which I am sure will be traded for someone, and tons of cap space. I'm not going to get myself too worked up about the fact that a guy that was put on waivers a week before the season and nobody else even tried to claim only got a 6th and the other guy who we signed before the season only resulted in trash too. Prout just gives us more options as someone else to expose, nothing more. When Vegas doesn't take him they'll just bury him in Albany... er, Binghamton.

You know there's a lot of talk about "unifying the state" when it comes to Devils and, especially, Rutgers.

But you know what, when it comes to south Jersey.. maybe it's just best we leave em to the Philadelphia market.  No offense to any southern NJ'ers here, and listen I understand there are stupid ignorant fools all over the state, but South Jersey REALLY trends towards Alabama very quickly.  A whole lof of trucks, confederate flags, and morons like the ones referenced in the post I quoted.

I can't believe that in today's day and age people would object to a "pride night", for fvcks sake.  Personal beliefs aside it's just a nice gesture in a tough social climate.

It was my first thought when they had Pride Night that some of our fan base simply wasn't going to know how to handle it. I didn't hear of anything happening at the game, but those comments confirm I was right.

Idiots. It's 2017, are there still people who don't know gay people and still don't realize there's no difference except for whom they choose to have relationships with?

Okay no more from me, don't want to turn the thread political.

Feel better after the online chat? You feeling positive and optimistic?

BTW my reference to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" had absolutely NOTHING to do with pride night.

I was merely trying to satirize the futility.

Peace

We are in accord on that. There is enough hate in this world.

Peace my friend

It's Facebook and Twitter - I never read the comments ever in those sections because they're two steps even below message boards when it comes to...being human.  I'm sure there'd be the same vile, senseless comments on any other team's Facebook and Twitter.  I don't take it as an indictment of the fanbase neccesarily though, since like I said you'd see that anywhere on social media unfortunately.

It's funny that people use FB and Twitter to be gigantic sh!tbags when typically you have your real name and information tied to it. More so FB than Twitter but still. With message boards, reddit, etc, there is more anonymity but still seems like this worst people gravitate towards talking on there.

I use Twitter a lot for news and updates but I can't stand talking to people on there. I gave up trying to carry on conversations with most fans on there a while ago.

I'm sure Philly got at least a 2nd for Streit.

LMAO they took Filppula's contract and got a 4th and conditional 7th. Yzerman is a genius. Best current GM. Freed up all tons of space for his big RFA's Johnson, Drouin, Palat. He unloaded Bishop and got a D prospect. And got a 2nd round pick for Boyle. I'm amazed how good he is at making deals.

The Golden Knights are also officially an NHL team now. Pretty weird that there's 31 teams in the league. Still don't like the name, logo, colors....I'm sure they'll be an overall annoying team in time.

That's all they could talk about on NHL Network. All cause this deadline was a dud. I don't care about the Golden Knights. What's so golden about a knight anyway? And what is that logo supposed to be?

Trade deadline really needs to be moved back to mid March again. It's boring now and there is much less activity with this amount of season left. You get more bubble teams who are not sure if they're in or out and they end up standing pat.

Take away the 3-point game and that is no longer an issue. They won't. They love parity.

It's lower than dirt. I don't know how people can look at themselves in the mirror every day. Worse than children.

Only our fan base would flip out this much over this kind of trade deadline. We got a low pick for a guy we got for free in Parenteau, and yeah, Prout fvcking blows, but he might be a decent barter chip at the expansion draft. We can move him to a team that loses a defenseman in the Draft or we can move him to a team that needs a guy to throw in, if you have an extra nobody under contract that might become a decent currency to get a free 4th or 3rd at the expansion draft so the other team can avoid getting penalized.

People gotta breathe and relax, trust the process, getting a 4th or 5th for Quincey isn't going to change this team overnight.
