I could see either side of the fence. I think they're feeling the heat and decided to take the road of mocking themselves to try to make a clearly sh!tty situation seem a little better. However. ..it probably doesn't come off as a lighthearted joke for those who are seriously pissed right now. Feels more like they are patronizing their fanbase without intentionally doing so. Oops.

Lou would never allow one stitch on the jersey to be changed and would still be disallowin #13 to be used and forcing all low numbers on the players' jerseys. It's nice to see a change of pace... With that said, they are clearly mocking themselves and taking it lightheartedly. It's not bad when u see it that way... Edited June 21, 2017 by slasher72

I found it to be obnoxious, especially a few hours after this stuff was released. A proper and professional organization would just ignore the negativity for the first night and not try to be a cute wise ass about it.

I lost my WiFi and had to edit the end of my paragraph. I definitely see your point. I think their rationale is just poking fun at themselves because they expect a lot of traditional-minded fans to hate the new look. Who knows man, God forbid if Shero doesn't do well here and Lou gets bored in Toronto after helping to turn them into a better organization, maybe you see him try to come back here as GM and dismantle everything Shero did. I'm sure he feels he left with a lot unresolved and I'm sure many fans would be ecstatic if he returned. Although he'd be really up there in age and he'd also have to convince the new ownership to go along with his plans.
thecoffeecake 397
The best years of my life. The Devils have been bad for all of them, the Phillies are bad, the Nets moved, Temple basketball is on the decline, Hurricane Sandy happened, and Donald Trump is president probably through the rest of my 20s. And now this happened. I'm moving to New Zealand. Sick of this sh!t.

Satans Hockey 3,848
This change really came at a bad time. We have missed the playoffs for 5 straight seasons and 6 of the past 7. We have seen every last good piece from the past move on now. Now the changes with the jerseys as well. I don't expect to win the cup every year but I have spent a ton of money watching some really bad hockey with my season tickets, especially over these past 3 years so my tolerance for the social media guy trying to be funny couldn't be lower. Devil Dan 56 2,564
Meh. I prefer the old ones but this about what we were expecting. I'll feel a lot better about it when our first overall pick puts it on. They will probably switch back in a few years anyway

If things don't start turning around this year I'm sh!tcanning Shero by the end of the season. And I would crawl back to Lou. Would give anything for him to walk through those doors and order some intern to haul this these abominations into the Pru Center incinerator And it would happen DAY ONE
Satans Hockey 3,848
I love how they randomly decided to embrace the Kansas City / Colorado / Newark nonsense teams all of a sudden. Besides a few banners and jerseys in the arena and the Colorado type logo for McMullen when has the team ever cared about those teams? They aren't our teams, there's always a few walking around with the jerseys but they are an extreme minority. I just don't get it, I don't and will never care about that aspect of our "history" My teams history began in 1982 and I don't care about anything other then that.
Antiquated Colorado Rockie 460
I see that I am definitely in the minority but I am fine with the new jerseys and like the sleeves. Don't care for the (lack of) bottom stripe but don't hate it and they didn't fvck with the logo. I'll buy one, lgd

Yea thanks those stupid weird fat stripes around the arm were inspired by the Scouts. Terrific. You can take your Scouts and Rockies and Newark Bullfrogs and blow them out of your ass.

It's even worse when you look up the stats. 6 seasons in Colorado and 2 in Kansas City. I looked up the Newark team, they played 1 year and 40 games. Not a single time in those 9 seasons did any of those teams finish above .500 In those 9 seasons 150 wins and 417 losses and 109 ties. There's so much amazing history there it's no wonder why we decided to honor them all. fvcking dumb. Edited June 21, 2017 by Satans Hockey
Satans Hockey 3,848
My last issue with the "heritage" stuff and I'll try not to harp on this over and over but if Kansas City and Colorado actually had decent teams and crowds there's a good chance we never have a team in the first place because they wouldn't have had a reason to move. We should be thankful that they were garbage there but we sure as hell shouldn't honor or pay tribute to them.
RizzMB30 142
As long as the logo stays, i'm okay. I'm fine. I'm not going to freak out. Change the logo.................please no.

The Rockies and Scouts are about as inspiring as a rancid sh!t mound. We're the Devils. We've moved past that. We're NJ and NJ only. It may be our history but keep it history. There was nothing about either of these teams that needs to be dug up and added to our uniform Agree, I've always taken an interest in this franchise's history, but I NEVER needed to see homage paid to the Scouts and Rockies in any way on the Devils' jerseys (let alone the fvcking Bulldogs?!)...just no reason for that. It's like Adidas and the Devils' "fashion team" decided they needed to cater to a demand that doesn't exist...if this was an attempt at being clever and profound somehow, it failed badly. Agree with others that it doesn't look as bad on Greene, but yeah, it's still a significant downgrade over the previous design...and therein lies the real problem...this is just not an improvement in any way...and though I do think this ownership is trying and does ultimately want to do right by this fanbase, it just feels like they can't quite get a proper read on us. This redesign feels like the latest example of that...previous ownerships have obviously had their quirks (some negative of course), but never once did I ever doubt that the Devils were "our" team...even with the Nashville crap back in '95. It doesn't quite feel like that at the moment...just a lot of disconnect right now...who knows, maybe someone or multiple someones in the Devils' braintrust saw enough fans wearing retro jerseys from the franchise's prior stops that they thought incorporating elements into a new design would go over well. Still a bad miscalculation, and it's disappointing that this is what they honestly think we wanted. Edited June 21, 2017 by Colorado Rockies 1976
Chimaira_Devil_#9 1,000
I actually like the shoulders. Also like to collar. Just can't be dealing with the bottom stripes going completely.
Marshall 404
I like them. I like the majority of the re-designs about as much as I liked the last Reebok-ones. Logo didn't change and that way the big key for me. If that'd changed, well...
'7' 1,310
One thing I would like to hear from the Devils now is some kind of statement. They released these and it was almost universally rejected. On social media it was a disaster. So now they know they have a pissed off fanbase and they need to do something about it. "We understand your concerns..." "We value your committment to the organization" "We will re evaluate our decisions regarding the jerseys and provide you with an update at a later time" Let's see what they do. Because as of right now the Devils are The Car Built for Homer. Edited June 21, 2017 by '7'
pattyelias 37
I hated the picture adidas posted, but when I saw it on the players I didn't really mind the redesign at all.
