The Devils Uniforms

Why do we need to have anything "inspired" by the Rockies and Scouts? The Rockies and Scouts are about as inspiring as a rancid sh!t mound. We're the Devils. We've moved past that. We're NJ and NJ only.

It may be our history but keep it history. There was nothing about either of these teams that needs to be dug up and added to our uniform

Agree, I've always taken an interest in this franchise's history, but I NEVER needed to see homage paid to the Scouts and Rockies in any way on the Devils' jerseys (let alone the fvcking Bulldogs?!)...just no reason for that.  It's like Adidas and the Devils' "fashion team" decided they needed to cater to a demand that doesn't exist...if this was an attempt at being clever and profound somehow, it failed badly.

Agree with others that it doesn't look as bad on Greene, but yeah, it's still a significant downgrade over the previous design...and therein lies the real problem...this is just not an improvement in any way...and though I do think this ownership is trying and does ultimately want to do right by this fanbase, it just feels like they can't quite get a proper read on us.  This redesign feels like the latest example of that...previous ownerships have obviously had their quirks (some negative of course), but never once did I ever doubt that the Devils were "our" team...even with the Nashville crap back in '95.  It doesn't quite feel like that at the moment...just a lot of disconnect right now...who knows, maybe someone or multiple someones in the Devils' braintrust saw enough fans wearing retro jerseys from the franchise's prior stops that they thought incorporating elements into a new design would go over well.  Still a bad miscalculation, and it's disappointing that this is what they honestly think we wanted.

One thing I would like to hear from the Devils now is some kind of statement. They released these and it was almost universally rejected. On social media it was a disaster.

So now they know they have a pissed off fanbase and they need to do something about it.

"We understand your concerns..."

"We value your committment to the organization"

"We will re evaluate our decisions regarding the jerseys and provide you with an update at a later time"

Let's see what they do. Because as of right now the Devils are The Car Built for Homer.

Addressed this in your "Take Action" thread, but the real proof of these not being embraced will be lack of sales.  Unless the Devils see a significant and extended dropoff in jersey sales, they're not going to give up on this design.  If anything, they'll probably assume that the ones taking the time to immediately address them directly about this constitute a minority of the fanbase...hardcore-dedicated, sure, but the Devils won't automatically take anything that group says as speaking for everyone...who knows, they may simply view that group as a bunch of reactionary stuck-in-the-muds at this point.

As far as a mod of this design goes, if they just did one white stripe and one black stripe of equal or near-equal width on the sleeves and bottom of the jersey (similar to the Blues and Penguins), I could live with that...I still like the old stripes better, but I definitely wouldn't be as "bleech" about a new jersey with these tweaks as I am about the current new ones.

Did Modell's used to do a free giveaway jersey to kids that looked just like these?

As someone who liked a lot of the modern jersey designs that Reebok came out with in 2007 or whatever, I don't really see that Adidas came up with a single creative idea on any of the jerseys they "updated"

I'll reserve final judgement for when I see them playing a game in them, but initial reaction was I hated them... then saw them on Hall & Greene and thought they looked okay. I think they'll look decent with the uniform as a whole.

I am just glad they didn't change the color scheme or logo... and if we select Nico on Friday then I won't give a sh!t about any of this. I'm sure they'll eventually add the stripe at the bottom back in. That's what teams do all the time. Make minor changes and reap profits. They've kinda been missing out on that for a while. That all being said I don't think I'll be purchasing one.

So whoever is running their twitter decided to be cute and put "not a fashion company" in the bio.

I thought that was brilliant. A subtle wink to those on the ledge.

I don't think it's ever smart to piss off customers and troll your own fans. I already emailed my season ticket rep about it. I think it's embarrassing and bush league.

Some of the things being said and written by our very own fans are equally embarrassing & bush-league.

"The jersey's so bad, I refuse to watch another game until they bring back the old uni's"  --- might be time to ruminate if you were ever a real fan to begin with.

FWIW it's already gone - they probably fired the intern responsible.

E-mailing the organization did zip. Social media nods and winks are only meant to be put-out for a limited period of time. Whoever put it out meant to take it off after an hour or so of people screenshots, and an overall buzz of what was said. I'm sure our media public relations guy\girl is still employed.

Did they show the aways yet?

No. But I'm actually hoping that the shoulder yokes are red.. just to put half our fanbase in an asylum.

I think the new jersey is fine!  We have a great logo, & that's all that matters. Don't get the sh>t storm. This is almost as bad as fricken goal song!  We have so much cool stuff to look forward to instead the lil changes made to jersey.

Yea I'd be curious to see how they do. Or if the team is even honest about sales. I remember hearing the Buffaslug actually sold really well but it was gone pretty soon. I guess we'll see it with our own eyes.

Thing is our real uniforms are just so much better and have so much more. Unless you really need what's new...and some people are like that (some hardcore jersey collectors hate but will buy it just to have it) you're going to look better in the classic jersey.

You hit the nail on the head. The people that hate the new jersey, are the same people that wanted to keep the old goal song.. the same people that chant You Suck.. the same people that wanted Lou to GM until he was 98.. the same people that wanted Marty to play until he was 52...

The Devils were being bombarded with negative comments regarding the jerseys on social media. Basically that tweet was just them saying that they're not responsible. They didn't put this out. And just because they work for the organization doesn't mean they endorse it.

That's about as silly as saying that people who like the new unis don't respect the Devils' tradition and aren't true fans of the team.

I strongly dislike the new jersey, bordering on hatred.

I miss the old goal song, but am OK with it being gone.

I don't chant You Suck and never did as it was just never my thing..."HEY!" was good enough for me.

I thought it was time for Lou to go when he did; his time here had run its course, impressive as much of it was.

Ditto Marty, who was here at least one season longer than he should have been.

So much for that.
