The Devils Uniforms

Recommended Posts

I would say that if Pat gets a statue then Stevens should have a statue. The plaza doesn't have quite enough room for all manner of statues. While Pat was a great player and the epitome of class and representative of all the good things about Devils culture, at the same time he didn't redefine his position the way Marty did to the point where they needed to put rules in place to counter his effect on the game.

He's talking about Pat Burns.

Jesus. H. Christ. Some of you guys are hysterical. Like, beyond hysterical. I'm not a huge fan of the new uniforms, I'm really not. But holy crap some of you are acting like they slapped your sis

YOU SHUT YOUR GOD DAMN WHORE MOUTH LEAVE MY BANNERS ALONE SO HELP ME GOD *cough* I mean, uh, no I doubt they'll do that, doesn't seem to make much sense right?

Dallas doesn't have red on them though, the red and green together look awful to me. Seeing them a few times a year is fine but I never want them back full time.

My favorite Devils coach ever.

I still remember seeing pictures of his funeral and his wife holding the Stanley Cup urn. Heartbreaking. And then hearing her car was actually robbed during the funeral. Just awful.

Wow, you went out of your way to insult a very good chunk of people on this board and Devils fans at large because of one single person you were bickering with. Here's my experience: the smartest people I know, the most insightful and creative thinkers I grew up with, tons of people successful in STEM careers, politics, art, just about all went to NJ state schools. I've also found people who try to drop their educational background when someone so much as intentionally makes a petty, immature joke at their expense tend to be shallow inbusiles who backed into an Ivy league degree based on those schools' policies on legacy admissions.  And I didn't go to school in the state, so if you think I'm trying to defend my own alma mater, nope.

Word homie.  How are things in TR? Lot of Ivy League alums running around down there?

Oh wow, first our schools, now our hometowns. Things in TR are great, but I live about 25 minutes walking distance from Penn, so you could say there are a lot of Ivy League alums and current students running around down here. They're mostly all the same entitled moron completely detached from reality, and, much like you, think they're better than everyone else because they attended a prestigious school, but never have anything substantial or productive to say. Get a hold of yourself, just like the rest of us, you're not special. Just  another shining example of the quality of critical thinker Princeton and Harvard and Columbia and the rest of those sleep-away camps for America's aristocratic youth produce.

Third grade reading level eh? Haha. Let's just say I didn't attend one of the state schools in NJ that y'all attended.  I will leave it at that.  I am all for banter but when you want to talk about education, you better be prepared chief...

Saw this on FB and thought this was interesting.  Looks like NBA is doing away with the home/away jersey concept and instead each team will have 4 different jerseys.  New concept is that the home team gets to choose for each game one of the four designs to wear and the away team will have to pick one of their contrasting jerseys.  Basically it will be like a video game.

Pretty cool and different, but while this would probably work fine in the NBA it would most likely never work in the NHL.  Main reason is that NHL jerseys are bulkier and heavier than NBA jerseys and the NHL equipment managers would probably bitch about having to lug around 4 sets of jerseys to every away game.

I don't hate the idea.  I'm sure teams could work out which colors they would be wearing ahead of time before the teams get on the plane.

The NBA is a joke. This is another joke bush league move. Each team having 4 uniforms muddles identities of teams. Jerseys in that league are now stained by advertisements which make them look cheap and illegitimate anyway.

There really is something to be said for a longstanding, iconic, classic look. They always seem to survive these trendy upheavals.

Another thing that really makes the NBA (and NFL) ugly is the tattoos. But there's nothing we can do about that.

Still at minimum you would have to carry 2 sets of jerseys.  Again in the NBA since their jerseys are basically like undershirts it is no big deal, but in the NHL 2 sets take up a decent amount of space.

The NBA is wrestling at this point. This ridiculously stupid uniform idea just adds to it. Start calling it the NBE (National Basketball Entertaiment) and be done with it.

I imagine it will all be worked out ahead of time, but its pointless. If they insist on 4, why not two light-ish, two dark-ish, and the road team can just bring whichever of their dark jerseys they feel like bringing?

Real quick - NHL Store is doing a sale in NYC for $40 blank replica jerseys and $80 for Authentic. It's a clearance for everything making room for Addidas. I picked up 3 :)

Then going to send them to Exclusive Pro in time for the new year! Saw a guy get a Hischier made :)

I assume they're the Indo's? That's still a good price. NHL SHOP.Com had them going for $200 just a week ago.

When you're not looking at that stupid rendered model of the uniform, the new jerseys really are not bad, IMO. I'm a fan.

I don't think it's an "improvement" over the old design, but I do like it. If they had rolled these out as a special event/Winter Classic type jersey, that would have been cool. It already has a throwback kind of feel to it, if they did that design with a lace at the neck it would be even more old school looking, perfect for a Winter Classic where that's the look they go for.

But I still prefer the old style, which ironically, looks less old school to me.

Change for the better would have been fine. I think most people like the red & blacks way more than the Xmas unis. I know I do. I'm sure I'll get used to the new one eventually, but that doesn't mean I plan on buying one them any time soon. I'd rather just get a Nico player t-shirt.

No fear of change here (and not liking the new jerseys does not equate to fearing change).  Hell, much as I prefer the old ones, I still think some tweaks to the new one could make it more tolerable.  But as is, hell no.  Still looks like a mix of a bad knockoff and a pajama top to me.
