2017 Miami Dolphins thread

Was hoping for Foster or Lamp, but Harris seems really good.  Apparently a smart guy (majored in Biology) and has a bit of a chip on his shoulder (said to teams pick me or I'll make you regret it).  On the downside, doesn't seem like he does all that well against the run, which the Patriots will absolutely kill you with.

Harris was one of the highest rated guys on our board, not surprised we took him... Talented kid, only thing is he needs to develop into a three down player- he's gonna be a situational pass rusher off the bat.

Liking our draft so far- all defense all the time. We took LB Raekwon MacMillen from Ohio State in the second round, and CB Cordrea Tankersley from Clemson in the third. First time in team history that the Dolphins have used their first three picks in a draft on defense- pretty unbelievable that this is the first time that's happened.

The draft is setting up nice to solidify the defense.  Considering all that was needed for the offense was guard and depth its smart that they filled their defensive needs. Assuming Jordan Phillips takes a step forward Miami will be a much tougher team to run on next year.  Ideally we can hide Harris on running downs with two good runstuffing linebackers behind him and Suh and Wake on the other side long enough that he becomes good against the run.

First pick of day 3 and I love it. A guard that wins with power and nastiness. I would not be surprised if he's starting at left guard day 1.

Hopefully doesn't turn out like our other late round O-Iine picks.

Does every team get one of these including the Browns?  Cody Kessler leads the Browns to a perfect season with a perfect QB rating with Isiah Crowell rushing for 2500 yards and Josh Gordon magically getting reinstated to a 200 catch season.

I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens.

Nice, I'll have to go watch that later when my work proxy doesn't block it. :D

Sad news, as Koa Misi has been put on IR and will likely retire due to his neck injury.  As someone who suffers with neck pain himself, I feel bad for the guy and hope he can live a meaningful life after football.

I feel for Misi. He was pretty good, but just could never remain healthy. I wish him nothing but the best. We signed CB Alterraun Verner to take his roster spot. Verner can play both boundary and inside and will compete in camp with McCain.

So we're one week into camp, and Ajayi is in the concussion protocol, Tannehill hyperextends the same knee he injured last year and may need surgery, and our starting LG has a bicep tear... We're off to a great start, eh?    http://amp.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article165290417.html

It looks like Mando might be acting like a bit of a drama queen here with respect to Tannehill.  He says only that the MRI still needs to be reviewed by specialists.  Still I'm almost certain that the team doctors that reviewed the MRI have a lot of experience with knee injuries, even if they aren't necessarily specialists, and can generally tell if the film or the report indicate something like a major tear.

Might be a blessing in disguise if he's ready to go by week 1.  Keeps him out of those meaningless preseason games.

I hope you're right, because if Tannehill is out, we can forget it. Matt Moore is a solid backup and he did a great job finishing what Tannehill started last year, but he can't be relied on to be consistent enough for 16 games to get the team to the playoffs. Regardless of anything, I don't wanna see Tannehill anywhere near a field again until week 1, assuming the knee is stable enough and he doesn't need surgery.

Unlike MD2020, I think Matt Moore can get the team to the playoffs again if enough breaks the right way.  Remember, he managed to make the team half way respectable with one of the most abysmal supporting casts and coaching staffs the team has had besides the 1-15 year, and taking us out of contention for Andrew Luck in the process.  Whoever the Dolphins have at QB will have sh*t ton of weapons to help out along with a O-line that could be steady enough.  And he was very good when he had to step in last year after having received no playing time until that point.  Not saying he has the potential to be a league MVP, but there's no reason he can't have a resurgence similar to what Rich Gannon experienced.

Also against bringing in Kap or Cutler.  Cutler stinks, always has so what would be the point.  Kap might be able to recapture his old form and he had flashes last year, but he's not good enough to overcome how much I dislike him personally.  While he says he won't take a knee at the anthem anymore (something in and of itself I didn't really care about) you know he's going to do something or many things to make it all about his political views.

Sounding like Cutler is more and more likely according to reports.... The ONLY thing that gives me any semblance of comfort is that Cutler had the best season of his career under Gase, and knows the offense.

If he's a body that's there to compete with Moore, I suppose I can live with it.

The word is he wants to be paid like a starter (so he probably wants something like $12-15 million), and if that's the case, he's likely gonna start. He'd have to 'win the job', but you aren't paying a backup QB $15 million. I just wonder what kind of shape he's in, considering he was a month away from being in a broadcast booth.
