Basically me every day...

Can I just say that I think the best part of this is that NJ wont have to play Henrique at center ever again!

If I had to rank them it would be probably WHL being the best, then OHL, then QMJHL. But great players come from all three. Just listening to Nolan Patrick last night -- he already sounds like a

Seriously!  This is a tough choice, but a good one.  The problem is that these 2 guys are going to constantly be measured up and compared to each other for the rest of their careers, especially with Philly having the 2nd pick and getting whoever we don't take.  Still better than picking 5-8 though.

I can already see people saying whoever the Flyers take is better. The Flyers put up a decent amount of goal whereas the Devils were bottom feeders in that category. It should be a lot easier for whoever the Flyers get to put more points up.

This could all be solved if the Flyers gave us next year's first to swap picks

Write-ups on Nico & Nolan from All About the Jersey - I enjoyed them, including the comments.

A Physical Therapist weighed in on Patrick's injuries and why they're troubling. His comment is highlighted in pink (it's the first pink highlight in the comments section under the topic INJURIES).

I think the key to what the physical therapist says is that everyone heals differently.  I'm not a doctor, but I imagine there are a battery of tests Patrick can go through that would tend to show whether the sports hernia (which is what the commenter seemed to be most concerned with) is something that will linger.    I imagine it's similar for athletes that have had knee/ligament damage in the past.

That would be a pretty bad trade on their part if these 2 are really as close as it seems.

Flyers fans seem to think that Hextall has a preference for Nico.

Or are they just telling themselves that cause they know that's who they're getting?

I honestly don't know about that man... Everything you hear has the Devils seemingly favoring Nico. I don't think we'll really know much of anything in terms of who the pick will be until after the combine at the earliest.

What I like about Nico, especially, is that his great skating and transition play (along with all the other good bits) would be a real help for the defense. NJ struggles mightily to transition the puck. We're all assuming the defense will be addressed but I'm not superconfident the guy who signed Ben Lovejoy to 3 years and 8 million, will make all the right moves. One of the main reasons why Taylor Hall has been so productive and had such a great impact on teams with terrible defense is his ability to transition the puck, by himself, with frequency. Conceivably, Devils could have Hall, McLeod and Hischier, all possibly great transition players, on separate lines next year which would help immensely.

I don't care if he's the next Gretzky. I wouldn't go near a guy with an injury history like Nolan's.

Perhaps a bit dramatic of a comparison, but I agree with the second part.

If he were a guy that was going to put up points at a 250+ a year rate, and he'd miss a month or two a season, I'd still have that guy on my team. :)

I'm still in team Nico, but Patrick would be great too.

Did you mean he looked like Johansen before the season ending injury or after?   :D

Normally I have a pretty strong opinion about who, or at least what type of player we should draft.  In this case, I find that i haven't even thought to much about it.  I'm almost more intrigued about what we'll get with the 2nd and/or what we can trade for before the expansion draft.  With the 1st overall, I trust that Shero and Castron will do their homework on the Patrick injuries and pick the guy who is right for what they are trying to build. Even in hindsight, I haven't disliked much about any of Shero's moves since becoming the GM.  I hated the McLeod pick over Brown at the time but this past season has pretty much shut me up on that.
