2017 UFA Thread

Chill guys, Shattenkirk may be the best player in this year's FA pool, but he surely isn't the answer to all our problems. We still have too many major holes to fill. If we were running for a Stanley Cup this year and needed a major upgrade in the top four, then yes, he wouldve been great.

Lost out on Shattenkirk, signed 6'7 slow non physical turd Brian Marge is this a pimple or a Boyle. Wrecked our jerseys.

Anything else you want to sh!t on Devils?

You're forgetting we also traded for a draft bust to be Nico's baby sitter.

He's one local guy that isn't a Ranger fan.  I think the Caps keep him though.  And at that point, even if the Devils signed him it would be like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

He won't even get to free agency, so everyone can stop with the fantasy of signing Carlson. At this point, it feels like we say the same sh!t every summer- 'it's ok, we'll just target X player next year', only for X player to either not make it to FA, or just sign with the Rags for 8 dollars and fifty cents per year over six years because BROADWAY BRAH

I can not wait to read this thread in a year. How can you live your life without being this cynical.

There was some hope that things were lining up that the team could take a big step forward with cap space, lots of draft picks, the expansion draft and being able to trade Kovy's rights.  In the end, we got a draft bust defenseman and Brian Boyle.  It's nice we got Nico, but a franchise savior he ain't.

All we heard was allllllllll these mooooves that were gonna be able to be made with cap space, an arsenal of picks, the expansion draft- and nada. Zilch. Zip. Shero can try to make a trade, but I doubt that happens either.

Feel the same way.  For the past year certain posters here have been going on and on how this offseason is going to be a big summer of change.  Outside of Nico nothing much has changed at all and to say it's disappointing is an understatement.

Cap space everywhere for us but nothing to spend it on now.  Wonderful.

Yup, shero talked a fair amount about taking advantage of these assets this off season and there is nothing to show for it at this time. Yes October is a ways away but this team on paper looks just awful. Not to beat the horse again but I'm sure hall is happy with how things are going here so far. What looks like as of now another season of not sniffing the playoffs. In hindsight which I know you can't do as of now we should have just kept Larsson.

Oh I'm pretty sure Hall is pleased as punch that he's playing with a less talented version of the Oilers

The sheen has definitely worn off our GM. Besides Hall and Palmieri, has Shero done anything else that was pretty good?

The one thing I'll say in Shero's defense is that Lou and Conte left him with virtually nothing to work with.  Conte even managed to royally fvck up the last draft he was in charge of.  Had the sixth overall pick in a deep draft and the best player we got will probably be Blake friggin Speers.

The thing about the trade route is you have to have something to trade. Schneids? Hall? Palms? Who else is going to get a return worth having apart from the prospects that the team worked so hard at tanking to get? I'd love to know what Shero has up his sleeve now.

man this sucks. theres not even anything worth while left to sign... radulov? we have need at RW but I guarantee the board we aren't going to end up landing him..well because we don't land any of the sought after players. More trash to come I'm sure. if I could write shero and the organization some hate mail it would've been on the way already.

You basically have to trade Hall and Schneider at this point.

Sadly, at this point it should be considered. This team is years away from being decent. As a sth that's so depressing to write and now fully realize.

Not for nothing either, but for a guy to leave that much money on the table tells me they didn't do a good enough job selling the organization. If you're Shero, you go full court press- you have Hall and other players reach out. You say to Shattencockbag 'we're building something special here, and you have a chance to get in on the ground floor. Do you wanna be part of something special, or do you wanna waste your time winning jack sh!t for that loser-ass franchise across the river?' Because this isn't the first time Shero has failed to close a deal (Vesey) when the competition has been those fvcking rancid a$$holes from BROADWAY BRAH. Maybe he did do this, Shattenjerkoff still said no, and I'm just looking for someone to blame- but it doesn't sit well with me when dudes are leaving $20 mil on the table.
