the flyers got fvcking 14 pts by losing in OT so far this year. 2 in their last 2.

14 points !!!!!!!

the most in the NHL

We REALLY need Boston to go on a streak. They are playing Florida 3 times and Philly once.

They'd turn around and say we scratched out loser points when we didn't play well. Most times when we don't play well we get a big fat 0.

It's annoying but the Flyers do find a way. Seems like they get a lot of extra attacker goals as well

im not kidding it feels like philly and colombus are like.... 28-1-1 in their last 30 games.

Columbus is on an 11-1 rampage

Philly has not been good. 4-6-4. It's those loser points that have prevented it from being a full catastrophe.

Plus the Flyers are 3-0-3 in their last six, it was earlier in the month where it looked like a free fall

NJD won today, phew. This team .... PHI OTL to Dallas doesn't help, we still lose head to head, CBJ just blew past the Oilers, added PIT, they have three potentially dangerous games which could very well knock them out.
My Predictions:
FLA@TOR: tough call here, FLA obviously wants the win, 55/45 FLA.
PHI@COL: both teams fighting for playoffs, PHI is B2B. 70/30 COL.

It's kind of interesting how quickly a four-team race for three spots is becoming a five-team race for four spots.  If the Devils can beat the Penguins one more time, the Pens have officially been dragged back into the "muck", heh heh.

After a 16-3-1 tear, the Pens haven't been truly awful (7-6-2 in their last 15), but it goes to show that treading water isn't getting it done.

How the rest of this group has fared in their last 15:

Flyers:  5-6-4 (but 3-0-3 in their last six and a 10-0-1 streak earlier)

BJs:  12-3-0

Panthers:  11-3-1

Devils:  9-6-0

Love that the Devils keep holding off the Panthers, especially lately...the Panthers have gone 5-3-0 in their last eight, but the Devils have bettered that with a 6-2-0 mark, a lot that over a brutal part of the schedule, when they absolutely HAD TO.

The next two nights are so huge...one Panthers loss and a Devils win will really hurt the Panthers a lot...two Panthers losses would be borderline devastating (what they've done has been impressive, but as we've seen, they just don't have much margin for error...even a respectable 5-3-0 mark as of late has stalled their progress).  Maybe it's just optimism, but I still think it's the Panthers that are ultimately going to be the team that finally runs out of steam.

I feel the same way for whatever reason - probably optimism like you mentioned, but I think it's also the Panthers that come up short.

Still, it's nice, and important, to root and hope for the other teams to struggle too.  An Avalanche win in regulation tonight would go a long way.

Not playing well doesn't earn you a loser point, not playing well most of the time gets you a regulation loss. Once you're in overtime, it's a coin toss/skills competition.  Even if a certain team isn't well suited for the current OT format, that has nothing to do with the 5v5 hockey they play. An OTL doesn't indicate "not playing well", it's a reflection of an evenly matched game.

It drives me just as nuts seeing those 14 points, but honestly we're lucky the Flyers matched up evenly with opponents 14 times and couldn't grab the other point. I don't have their ot wins in front of me, but I can safely assume there's a disparity.

Fair point above, Flyers have actually left a lot of second points on the table.

3 vs 3 and shootouts will always have a crapshoot, artificial tie-breaker feel to them.  Not a fan, especially of shootouts.

Lmfao the hockey gods hate us.  Varlamov is sick and Bernier is injured, so Philly will be facing the Avs #3 goalie

If it was against the Devils you'd bet your house on the guy giving a masterclass in goal tending. Against anyone else he'll play like he's got his hands tied behind his back.

We need some help from godfather Lou tonight.

hopefully the leafs will play well enough to help us out and beat the panthers in regulation. No one else has really helped us have a chance to have a little breathing room from them.

Panthers looking a little slow/tired in the early going in their game...outshot 8-1 early, lots of good opportunities for the Leafs (saw some game action and highlights on NHL Network).  Lots of time for them to find their legs though.  Hopefully not.

And now 2-0 Leafs.

Dress like a waiter, bring them “complimentary” desserts. Replace chocolates with copious amounts of ex lax.
