With the Nets pretty firmly planted in Brooklyn (as far as I know), and the Knicks not planning to move from the Garden (again, as far as I know), then I really can't see the NY area getting a third basketball team. Lord knows the Islanders have been in arena limbo for several years now, but the last update I saw it seemed pretty promising that the Belmont thing was going to happen, so yeah, this does seem pretty unnecessary and also like some odd pipe dream.
