DevsMan84
Our current schmuck governor on twitter just wished "Olympians of NJ good luck " for the 2018 winter Olympics and included Kovalchuk. 2

With that in mind, he couldn't hurt. Although we all keep talking about defense and goalies, let's keep in mind our offense isn't exactly stellar. We ran a lineup out there last night with Coleman, Lappin, Stafford*, Zajac and Hayes. That's not a lineup that's going to win you a Stanley Cup. If Gionta had enough left to be a replacement for Stafford* or Hayes, I'd be interested. * I am giving Stafford a one-day pass since he won us that game last night. But all opinions are totally valid if read tomorrow.

Antiquated Colorado Rockie
I'd pass on Gionta. I could see Lou signing him to play for the Leafs though.

That's more likely. Rochester and Toronto are not all that far apart, either.
Daniel
Did anyone see Govnah Phil Murphy tweeting out best wishes for all the NJ atheletes at the Olympics, INCLUDING ILYA KOVALCHUK? Murphy may have some good ideas for the state, but he’s not doing a great job of connecting with the common man. Edit: missed that got mentioned earlier. I don't think they are checking NJ property tax records before sending out tweets like that. Either him or some intern who runs his social media accounts probably googled some type of combo of "NJ" "Olympics" "Devils" and that's what came up. Too bad the schmuck(s) didn't check which year it is in reference to or the fact that Ilya hasn't played in NJ (or even N. America for that matter) since 2013. I don't know if he still has property here at this very moment. Maybe he sold a week ago, or 6 months ago, who knows. But you're right, I doubt the Governor and his people are checking that either, so as far as everyone knows, he still lives here (in the sense of having property anyway), so it probably just seemed natural to them to include him in their shoutout. I agree it's stupid though.
