He also congratulated Gionta.  Which has me thinking, do you think Gionta could help us down the stretch?

I'd take him over Hayes or Stafford, but not like that's saying much lol.

With that in mind, he couldn't hurt. Although we all keep talking about defense and goalies, let's keep in mind our offense isn't exactly stellar. We ran a lineup out there last night with Coleman, Lappin, Stafford*, Zajac and Hayes. That's not a lineup that's going to win you a Stanley Cup. If Gionta had enough left to be a replacement for Stafford* or Hayes, I'd be interested.

* I am giving Stafford a one-day pass since he won us that game last night. But all opinions are totally valid if read tomorrow.

Hell, it being a significantly shortened number of games could be good for his endurance and older legs.

Did anyone see Govnah Phil Murphy tweeting out best wishes for all the NJ atheletes at the Olympics, INCLUDING ILYA KOVALCHUK?

Murphy may have some good ideas for the state, but he’s not doing a great job of connecting with the common man.

Edit:  missed that got mentioned earlier.

It’s very easy.  Click the down arrow at the top right corner of the tweet.  Select share tweet via, and then select copy link to tweet.   Then just paste.

Nice, thanks man- I was just getting ready to reply to SH to ask him to post how to do it again when I saw your post lol. I'll try it next time I post a tweet. [emoji106]

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  It's definitely stupid to acknowledge him, but I'm sure he did it because he must own property here still.

Highly doubt that's the reason.  I don't think they are checking NJ property tax records before sending out tweets like that.

Either him or some intern who runs his social media accounts probably googled some type of combo of "NJ" "Olympics" "Devils" and that's what came up.  Too bad the schmuck(s) didn't check which year it is in reference to or the fact that Ilya hasn't played in NJ (or even N. America for that matter) since 2013.

Well, that's kinda what I meant.  I don't know if he still has property here at this very moment.  Maybe he sold a week ago, or 6 months ago, who knows.  But you're right, I doubt the Governor and his people are checking that either, so as far as everyone knows, he still lives here (in the sense of having property anyway), so it probably just seemed natural to them to include him in their shoutout.  I agree it's stupid though.
