NJDevs4978
Yeah the hot start has definitely fizzled out now that 3/5 starters don't give them a chance on a nightly basis, the bullpen (predictably) stinks after a fluke first couple weeks, and half the lineup (predictably) stinks. Colorado Rockies 1976
It's still early but the team looks like it will need a jolt soon...some GMs would try to make something happen (especially with the Marlins having a catcher who can clearly help the Mets), but as we know, that's not how Sleepy Sandy rolls. Zero urgency with that guy, always. It's one start, but wow does Vargas look extremely hittable. I hope to God it is indeed just rust, because based on what I saw yesterday, he's not going to help one bit. At least the Nats STILL haven't gotten their act together yet. '7'
Overall I'm surprised Harvey/Matz/Wheeler have been THIS BAD combined. The cumulative performance of all three...you'd figure would at least be average. And they're not all super young kids either. It's really getting late for them to do something. The Mets have to start making plans within the organization for life without all three of them

And of course now Ces with a sprained thumb leaving today's game...just after hockey ends now we're back to having the dark cloud hanging over this franchise

I don't think he's exactly what one would call a gamer...especially now that he's making lots of guaranteed coin. Matz, Harvey, and Wheeler are a trio of gutless frontrunning p*ssies. No fight in any of them...even Niese had more battle in him than those losers. I'm actually kind of amazed Zack has pitched into the fifth today. Nice catch Nido...Sandy can you wake up and get a real fvcking catcher already? Please?!
Colorado Rockies 1976
You know it's a good day when even Reyes gets a couple of hits...of course, he hits a HR in complete garbage time...he's the king of garbage time. All in all, can't bitch too much about a 4-5 trip, when I was hoping for 5-5. It was ugly at times for sure, but they avoided a disastrous trek, so all things considered, I'll take it. '7'
One of those games where everybody gets going offensively and that's good to see. Pair of hits and an RBI for Conforto. His injury was pretty bad and I think he all surprised us even being in the lineup now. Hope he starts mashing soon but it wouldn't surprise me if it took a little longer Only 5 from Wheeler but hey only 2 earned runs and 9k. Wish we didn't go to 4 innings of bullpen today but it is what it is Harvey pitched the 9th and while he didn't allow a run he also didn't show anything. No K's. A hit. Just his normal lifeless stuff.
Colorado Rockies 1976
This is exactly the kind of game this offense will have here and there...with the power, they'll have some fat games. But they'll never be consistent...that's why the starting pitching as a whole has to get better. Bats like these are going to have their share of low hit/low run/high K games. '7'
Cespedes to only miss 3 days with the thumb injury. Let's hope this isn't one of those snowball injuries

NJDevs4978
Ces himself is the one claiming it's a three-day injury. But the only ones I trust less than the Mets on injury diagnosis are the players themselves.

NJDevs4978
And Ces is playing tonight Sandy with some matter of fact quotes on Harvey (apparently he was on Page Six AGAIN this weekend)
'7'
All I know is that thumb better be 1000% because if it's not he will re-aggravate it because Mets

Guy is such a fvcking cancer now. Kinda starting to wonder what exactly Dave Eiland brings...I know he's new here, but he doesn't seem to be having much impact. Thor has a way of not putting up numbers worthy of his stuff (feels like he gives up more hits than he should), but at least he found a way to go six tonight (maybe more). No way in hell Matz would've pulled that off, if he had the kind of start to the game that Noah did. Cespedes not only playing but hitting too...good, as long as Sandy chooses to do nothing about the catching situation, they'll need a lot of guys to step up. It's SO infuriating that he's still here. Is anybody not named Sandy Alderson one bit surprised that General Garbage Time is doing nothing? I've never seen a GM and a franchise so hesitant to move on from players who no longer serve any purpose. I think general laziness/lack of creativity/apathy figures in somewhat (especially in Sandy's case), but it also feels like the Mets are terrified that Reyes might somehow go to another team and then shred it up (they probably have the same fear with Harvey). Maybe because of Murph? Reyes has put up a .249 BA w/a .314 OB%, and has an OPS+ of 94 (100 is average)...and he's not good in the field anymore, no matter where you stick him. It just feels like there's never any breaking point with the Mets...we've been over it many times, but guys (including complete losers) just get to hang around here for as long as they want, far past the point when other teams would've just cut their losses. Meanwhile the Mets currently have two catchers who can barely hit, a SS who can barely hit (I get it in his case, first full season in the bigs, we have to deal with it and hope he doesn't become the next Rey Ordonez at the plate), and the usual gaggle of low-BA guys, because apparently the idea of ever adding a hitter who might hit over .260 (and not strike out like crazy) causes Sandy to break out into hives. Team will fold quickly now...I can dream that the franchise will finally move on from Sandy after this season, but I doubt that happens. NJDevs4978
I was seriously considering going to the game on Friday, good thing I held off on that one a little Couldn't be a better day outside but god there are better things to do than spend all night going back and forth to NY to watch a fourth-place team probably lose again. Why oh why did the only good stretch of baseball of the season have to come when none of us were paying attention with the Devils still in it? '7'
He should absolutely not make his next start. The MRI is good news but let's not just throw him out there. Give him a start off, check back up on it. Can't be too careful here
'7'
Just too many of these guys not hitting consistently this year (or at all) zilch from Flores, zilch from Conforto. Rosario has basically done nothing with the bat. The catchers spot is the blackest of black holes and not being addressed. Bruce needs to pick it up with the long ball. Frazier has like 1hr in his past 10 games
