2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

In the Philly game, they pinned the Penguins in their zone for almost 2 minutes, but had only 2 good chances, two players low and essentially 3 along the blue line, they're terrified of being burned on a rush.

And then they give up the 2nd goal. Why the hell is Mrazek not in the net? Elliot has been atrocious

I know there’s a solid chance both teams lose in 5 games, but I can’t imagine being a flyers fan.

to switch it up and pretend it’s happening to us; it would be something like: the Rangers, who have won back to back Stanley cups and overall have simply dominated since 2007, match up with you again in the first round. You get one flukey win in game 2 but the other three losses are 7-0, 5-1 (at home) and 5-0 (at home).

Yeeeesh.

Not one game has been even remotely close. Terrible series all around.

It’s looking like every top Hart candidate will be making an early exit in RD1.

It's a shame. But honestly COL and NJ are both in great directions. I know people like to say both teams only have Hall and Mackinnon, but both teams have great young and talented pieces that will bring them a long way.

Eh the Kings were actually IN every game, they more or less just pulled a late '90's Devils.

The Flyers on the other hand...sheesh, the Kings sweep was more competitive than that series with their random win and likely four blowout losses :P

It's really fvcking sad. 3 out of the 4 games were complete blowouts. Losing 5-1 and 5-0 at home in straight games is embarrassing.

Yes but more should be expected out of the Kings. One of the best two way fowards in the game-check, one of the best goalies in the game-check, one of the best defenseman in the game-check, veteran team that’s won multiple  Cups, etc...

Nobody is going to remember how close the games were in a couple months. Just that they were swept.

Not really many close series so far in these playoffs.  Ours is actually probably one of the closer and more competitive, not to mention exciting.   Two series in the West were sweeps, and it's looking like the other two will end in 5.  In our Conference, Pitt is basically destroying Philly and Columbus is probably going to upset Washington.  The only other series that's close is Boston Toronto, and that's still early.

Jackets/Caps has been good. Three straight OT games. Talk about getting your money’s worth.

I never write them off until they are officially out. But they are being outplayed by higher skilled players. They had a ton of money to spend at the deadline and failed to do so. Grabner isn't even playing, so we lost a second and Rykov. I like Maroons size and ability to screen the goalie, but no skill. Just look at the break away last night and it says it all. The Devils made a ton of trades, but mostly minor league. We lost two picks in 2018 and not much to show in return. Wondering if we could have traded the 2nd and 3rd for Kane??? Hopefully they get Hall some real offensive help in the offseason.

MITB's response pretty much sums it up, but what "minor league" deals are you referring to?  Since the end of last season, look at all of the moves Shero made.  A lot of them sure as hell weren't minor league, and all of them were solid moves.

Shero's two deadline moves made sense.  Grabner unfortunately doesn't look like he's going to work out, but it definitely made sense on paper.  Maroon's done some nice things since coming here...not like everyone is going to be a good breakaway player.

Sounds like complaining for complaining's sake.
