Weren't the Canadiens making a serious push for Paul Stastny? This basically guarantees he stays with the Jets.

The Canadiens acquire forward Joel Armia, goaltender Steve Mason, a seventh-round draft pick in 2019 and a fourth-round pick in 2020 from the Winnipeg Jets, in exchange for defenseman Simon Bourque...

The SJ Sharks and Logan Couture have finalized an eight-year, $64M contract extension. Done deal, to be officially official tomorrow.

Couture’s new contract with San Jose has no negative affect on San Jose’s ability to sign Tavares. This was factored in, and if Tavares signs, the team still plans on re-signing Joe Thornton to a one-year deal.

LeBrun says we're still in the mix for Maroon. I like him, but I really hope we don't go more than 3 years.

I feel like that’s a good length for him. Coming off a $2.1m year, what do you think his annual will be?

I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 million. This is going to be his last chance to cash out big, so I hope Shero can sign him to something reasonable. I'd like him back, but not going to lose sleep if he moves on.

Interesting...why would we need Lack on a 1 way?

My thoughts exactly. A trade for KK maybe?

On second thoughts...didn't Schneider have surgery? Maybe he won't be ready for the start of the season?

All it means is he gets paid the same salary in the NHL or AHL.

I know what it means. Why would you pay 3 goalies at an NHL rate when you know you are only going to carry two?

Even so, they could have signed Lack to a two way deal so he’s not being overpaid when he spends the rest of the year in Binghamton. Makes me wonder about KK’s future. Less so Schneider’s.

He’s an insurance policy, like last year. It really doesn’t mean anything. You think Lack is getting that much? He’s probably making around $850,000. It’s a drop in the bucket.

Lack is getting the league minimum for one year.  The Devils don’t care if he makes it through waivers and they have to pay him the same salary in the AHL.  If it were some prelude to a KK or Schneider trade, they’d be trying to sign someone like Khudobin.

Yeah but on a 2 way deal he’d get like 110k while in the AHL. I mean you’re right, it doesn’t matter, but I don’t understand why you’d pay a guy NHL wages when the expectation is he will play in the AHL, and there’s the option of a two way deal.

A one way deal is probably the only way he would have signed now.
