Just don’t see the point on this one

He plays the LJ role, or at least should be...

Maybe Shero is trying to move pieces in a trade that would include some of these bottom pairing guys and is somehow getting a replacement for them in order to not leave their spots open?

all i know about Gryba is that he's the one who nailed Lars Ellers years ago and that he was bought out by the Oilers

Did a Dman in the Devils farm system get an injury that we don’t know about?

Otherwise, it’s pretty meaningless to recognize this acquisition.

What makes it meaningless?

You guys are reading this all wrong. We signed him to play one NHL game this year.... Against the Kings at home so he can do this to Kovy...

I mean, that's money well spent in my mind.

He is 30 years old and has played exactly ONE entire season in the NHL, for starters.

I rest my case.

Gryba on a two-way is a good deal.  The Devils only have 4 RHD that they trust.  They don't really have another RHD in the system worth playing in the NHL.  And who knows, they might be dealing an RHD.

@JulieRobenhymer  Couple notes on Gryba: A) He’s a BAMF d-man full of spit & vinegar. B) He played at BU with Brian Strait who recently re-signed with the Devils. They won a national championship together. C) He spent parts of three seasons in Binghamton while it was the Senators’ AHL affiliate.

More on Gryba: #njdevils don’t have a player quite like him on their depth chart and, given the details of his contract, I think he’ll have an opportunity to earn a spot in NJ. If it doesn’t work out, his skill set will be a welcome addition in Binghamton after clearing waivers.

Size and physicality on the back line is always welcome.

Let him play against TB and BOS, too.
