Some shaky moments here and there, but overall a plenty nice start to 2018-19.  Happy for Palms and even happier for Travis.  Team generally did a good job settling the game down after it got to be 4-2.  Wood looks like he's ready to go to another level.  And Q looks like a different guy...seems to realize the hockey gods have given him a real chance to show something.

Starting the season with a win on my birthday. Hell yeah!

I've only seen the Devils win one time on my birthday.  June 24, 1995

Happy birthday dude!

Happy birthday dude!

Yours was just a random, insignificant game, nowhere near as important as a neutral site season opener! But I GUESS it’s still cool...

;)

thanks man.

No hockey advanced analytics tonight................... Damn it

Zajac and Palmieri are both on pace to score 164 goals this year. If one or both finish around 125 we should be all set.

Unfortunately I only got to see the highlights... can someone breakdown how the defense looked? I see only 19 SOG allowed, pretty impressive against a high powered oilers offense, no?

The D wasn't quite as good as the relatively low SOG number suggests, but as a whole they were pretty good.  In some ways the Devils' best defense was their offense.  They had some nice runs of solid pressure.  Overall was a fun first game to watch.

Miles Wood might be a legit top six forward. Two years ago, I would've been happy if he could play in the NHL. Last year, he took the step to being a good 3rd liner. This year, he looks like a top 6 player. He just keeps getting better.

Seeing him walk defensive wiz Adam Larsson was v funny

Maybe he DID deserve more money.
