It's like the third best league in the world? I guess no league is a great league except the NHL then.

I’m admittedly not really in the loop re: the European leagues. I will defer to you being in Sweden and actually watching, but I always just figured the SHL was below the KHL and the AHL in the hierarchy.

Oh it's definitely below the KHL, I'd probably put it on par with the AHL.

I sounded a bit defensive, but my point is it's a good league even if NHL busts can put up good numbers there 😄

So Cam Johnson got pulled in the first period of Bing's game tonight after giving up 3 goals... Cormier got the nod & didn't let in a goal. Unfortunately, they lost 3-2. Short interview with Cormier below.

ETA: @Ski931 Jeff Ulmer   Cormier played well stopping all 21 shots he faced in his pro debut in Belleville

The last prospects updates, for those interested:  https://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2019/1/1/18162908/new-jersey-devils-prospect-update-1-1-19

And a nice paragraph by Mike Morreale on Talvitie - esp like the quote by Ruutu:

Talvitie leading Finland

Aarne Talvitie, selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round (No. 160) in the 2017 NHL Draft, has been a driving force for Finland in his first appearance at the WJC.

"We're here to win," Talvitie said. "I think the quarterfinal (against Canada) is going to be an awesome chance for us. We have the talent and ability to beat them. We just need to play our own game, relax and trust in ourselves."

The Finland captain has four points (two goals, two assists), is plus-5 and has six shots on goal in four games for Finland (2-0-0-2). The center is tied with forward Jesse Ylonen (Montreal Canadiens) for the team lead in points and has also been a physical force.

"I haven't met too many young guys at his age (19) who can be such a big leader and show the way on and off the ice," Finland assistant coach Tuomo Ruutu said. "Watching him close, his shot is amazing. He's stronger than I was at his age. I don't think there are too many guys as strong as him at his age, or even the men's teams."

Good article on Jesper Boqvist: https://www.eprinkside.com/2019/1/2/for-boqvist-the-older-slow-and-steady-wins-the-race-not-surprised-he-is-this-good

Snip:  New Jersey Devils drafted Boqvist in the second round of the draft in 2017, and he has met with representatives from the club during this season.

“They were here a couple of weeks ago and we talked a little bit then. But they didn’t really say all that much. For me, it’s enough to know that if I do good things, good things will happen. Of course, it’s a target for me to play over there next season, but it’s not something I think about every day. If I would do that, I would just trip myself up.”

Yeah unfortunately

That's a real shame as he was doing really well this season. Hopefully he'll pick up where he left off when he's back. If it takes the full nine months for him to recover I would of thought it'll be difficult for him to be at his best for the start of next season.

B-Devs are playing the Monsters on Sat night if anyone's interested in watching?

Also, Cormier got an AHL contract - welcome back kid! http://www.binghamtondevils.com/news/?article_id=401

ETA: In just four games with Binghamton this season on an amateur tryout, the 21-year-old has two wins, a shutout, a 1.87 goals-against average, and .938 save percentage.
