Those numbers are fantastic for Cormier. Hopefully he can build on that and give Shero even more options in the coming years.

He did last night, giving up one (fluke) goal in a 2-1 win for the Bing:  https://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2019/1/12/18179248/evan-cormier-once-again-keeps-bdevils-rolling-in-2-1-victory-over-phantoms

Cormier has improved to 3-1-0-1, 1.68 GAA, 0.944 SV% to help quiet his critics of inconsistencies in the past. Cormier’s 3 wins have come against Bridgeport, Syracuse and Lehigh Valley, 3 tough opponents.

AHL TV just did their mid-season price drop: $35 for one team or $45 for all the teams: https://www.watchtheahl.com/#/

The B-Devs just lost in OT 1-0 (CJ in net).

ETA: article on Cormier: https://theahl.com/right-place-right-time-for-cormier

While at home for their holiday break, he gave Clemmensen a call.

“I wanted to chat with him on a personal level,” he explained. “I had talked to him so much while I was [in their system] and I really trusted him to be straight with me. I wanted to see what I could try to do to improve my game and find a way to get back to the pro level and I was also curious if they were still keeping an eye on me.”

The timing couldn’t have been better.

“He beat me to it,” Clemmensen said with a chuckle. “I had meant to give him a shout and see how things were going at school. We had just received news that Eddie Lack was going to be lost for the season and [Mackenzie] Blackwood got called up and we were trying to sort out what we needed to do to get a goalie in Binghamton. We, as an organization, had already talked about the possibility of bringing him in and then before I could call him to see if he might be interested, he called me.”

For those that have a subscription to the Athletic, there's a nice write-up on the top Bing prospects (basically CM interviewed the coach & Fitzy about some of the top guys):  https://theathletic.com/772299/2019/01/17/down-on-the-farm-player-by-player-midseason-report-on-the-devils-top-prospects-in-binghamton/

Snippet:  Fitzgerald also admitted that White is the “most interesting” defensemen in Binghamton, suggesting he’s become one of the club’s best defensive prospects. White seemed far down the Devils’ prospect depth chart last season when he split time between the ECHL and AHL, but he’s since vaulted ahead of several defensemen and could be on top-10 lists for the club by the end of the year.

@DevilsInsiders  Zetterlund re-injured his knee. Needs surgery again. Sounds like his season is done.

Am I correct in thinking he got rushed back?

I think I read an article about one of the Junior coaches saying no one expected him to be back for the WJC but he made it.

If so, yeah terrible move.

Or maybe Cormier goes back to the Bing & Cory goes to the ECHL lol (further to the below, Wedge is in net for the Amerks):

Jeff Ulmer Retweeted

PATRICK WILLIAMS Retweeted Rochester Americans

Just your average game where Binghamton scores three goals in 2:55 to come back from down 4-1 only to see Rochester bang in two more goals 54 seconds apart. Binghamton has since added another one to close to 6-5. Cory Schneider is in net for Binghamton.

ETA: If you want to see all the goals, check out Jeff Ulmer's twitter - he has all the gifs from tonights game: @Ski931

Jesper Boqvist midseason Highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snd6PWLxpHE&feature=youtu.be

and an article on his season to date: https://www.eprinkside.com/2019/1/2/for-boqvist-the-older-slow-and-steady-wins-the-race-not-surprised-he-is-this-good

Really think he will take a spot in the NHL next year. If not opening day roster, maybe after a few months of adjusting to ice size in the AHL.

Those are some nice highlights. He seems to have incredible vision. Can't wait to see how he looks next year. I agree with you, I think he finds his way into at least a few NHL games next year.

Ugh.... hopefully Smith is okay.

Man..really hope this doesn't  turn out as bad as it looks..hit in a vulnerable position with legs bending in every direction. Already have 2 prospects out for the year losing the #1 would just make this an absolute brutal year for injuries up and down the organization.

Devils Insiders‏ @DevilsInsiders  Following his awkward tumble and exit from Saturday's game, the Spokane Chiefs say Ty Smith is not listed on this week's official injury report. He is expected to play tomorrow. #NJDevils

As it stands right now, I don't see any reason to not go full force on our young core of players at the moment and just thrust them into the NHL next season.  I'm talking Boqvist, as well as Smith, Blackwood, and maybe others.  Nico and Bratt will still both only be in the league two years too, and Zacha 3, making for a really young group of players.  I think if you round that out with a few veterans, guys like Zajac, maybe a Boyle and probably Greene, plus the mid-career guys like Hall, Palms, Wood, Coleman, etc, and you start to have a better picture of what our team and future will look like.

It really sucks that guys like Blandisi, Q, and McLeod haven't panned out, but we've played around with those guys enough already, maybe too much (being constantly called up and sent down, often times for only a game or two at a time), and I think the other cast of characters has been tested by now too and we know they're not NHL-caliber (I'm thinking Stafford, Gabriel, Rooney, etc).

This roster is still going to go through changes especially in the next few months, but come next fall I really see no reason now to just march on with what we have and essentially roll with them until they work.  I gotta imagine Stafford, Mojo, and Lovejoy aren't back next year.  Mueller may not either, and probably Kinkaid.  Noesen, as an RFA, I feel like will get a cheap qualifying offer and he'll be back, though I'm not keen on the salary.

Still, with all of those changes, you might figure our roster next year looks something like this:

Hall - Hischier - Palmieri

LW in FA - Zacha - Bratt

Seney - Zajac - Wood

Anderson - Boyle - Noesen

Boqvist

Vatanen - Butcher

Severson - Greene

Smith- Yakolev

Santini

Blackwood

Schneider

The offense isn't improved all that much unless the replacement we get for MoJo turns out to be an impact player, which is what MoJo was supposed to be.  And also perhaps not tendering Noesen and replacing him with a better 4th liner.  I'm not sure Seney's ready for 3rd line minutes, but I'm really hopeful and high on Anderson returning.

The defense should get a boost by taking minutes from Lovejoy/Santini/Mueller and giving them to Smith and Yakolev - must faster guys who should be able to contribute offensively too.

All of this is still up in the air, but that's not a stretch unless something major happens before the deadline coming up, or at the draft or during free agency.  We have the money to spend and make some changes, we know that, but I'm not sure what, if any will be made.

I’m also really hoping to see some of our youth make the team next season. At least get a good look at them. I think Boqvist and Smith might be ready but also our first this year could make the team. Especially if it’s a top 5 pick. Not trying to rush anyone to the NHL but we might end up with a really good pick.

Davies  and Walsh might even be ready although Walsh seems like he could be a power play specialist somewhat like Butcher. Apparently he doesn’t get much defensive zone minutes at Harvard. One thing our blue line definitely needs is some competition for a roster spot though.

Skip to the end to see some great saves by Cam Johnson in OT and then a really sweet end to end game winning rush and snipe by Studenic for the OT winner. Wouldn't mind seeing him up in the NHL for a taste towards the end of this season. FYI: pronounced stu-de-neech apparently, I've been saying stu-de-nick in my head when reading about him.

He's been good all season and I'm really surprised Shero/Hynes haven't called him up to see what he can do yet.

Edit: And what a no look pass by Yakovlev for the first goal!

There were a couple of nice plays by Yakovlev in that highlights video. He really belongs in the NHL. Granted, his English words/60 are below average, but that's something that can be fixed.
