LittleBallofHate 1,283 Posted December 7, 2018 Devils Insiders Retweeted Eliteprospects Verified account @eliteprospects After suffering a knee injury in October, #NJDevils Swedish prospect Fabian Zetterlund's road to the WJC got longer. Determination and a great attitude turned the odds in his favor, @UffeBodin writes: https://www.eprinkside.com/2018/12/5/fabian-zetterlund-wjc … #WJC2019 #WorldJuniorChampionships Snippet: “I knew that if I did my rehab and put some extra hours into my workouts, I would be ready to go (for the World Juniors). I just decided that I was going to make it. The World Juniors added to my motivation”, he said. When Swedish head coach Tomas Montén presented his preliminary roster at a press conference in Stockholm on Wednesday, Fabian Zetterlund was the first forward he put on his board. “I was really happy for him”, Montén said. “I talked to him after the game (on Saturday) and, you know, he’s an emotional guy and player, so obviously it meant a lot. At the same time, honestly, I didn’t think he was going to make it back in time, but he called me and said he would. He was right.” Great work by #NHLBruins prospect Oscar Steen, goal by #NJDevils prospect Fabian Zetterlund. https://t.co/uLbjnYrDKJhttps://t.co/DnbUd4F7po#SHL #FBKsepic.twitter.com/IMZFvOa0K8 — Eliteprospects (@eliteprospects) December 1, 2018 Zetterlund managed to make his comeback thanks to a specially designed brace that keeps his knee stable. “It’s pretty big and keeps it from moving sideways. It felt good right from the get-go. I thought it was going to be uncomfortable, but it fits really well and I don’t even think about it”, he said. Anders Karlsson, the assistant coach of Färjestad, gives his young pupil high marks for the work ethic he showed during his absence. “He has made quite a remarkable journey”, Karlsson said. “It wasn’t that long ago he got hurt, and he should probably still be on the shelf, but he’s a gritty young kid, almost built like a bear. He wanted to play earlier, but we kind of had to hold him back.”

LittleBallofHate 1,283 Posted December 13, 2018 Shout out to Julie Robenhymer for this poetic description of Talivitie: https://www.nhl.com/devils/news/four-devils-prospects-invited-to-selection-camps-for-iihf-world-juniors/c-302824364 Talivite was left off last year's Finnish squad and it's unlikely they'll be making that mistake again. He's got five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 17 games so far in his freshman season with Penn State. He's a mucker, grinder and loose puck finder with a heck of a wrist shot, who's already adjusted to the smaller NHL-sized sheet of ice and the quicker pace and physical nature of the North American game.
LittleBallofHate 1,283 Posted December 21, 2018 Rob Lippolis Retweeted AHL Communications Toronto’s Morgan Klimchuk suspended three games for the hit on McLeod in Wednesday’s game that featured 124 PIM’s. 86 of those came in the aftermath of the hit. "The American Hockey League today announced that Toronto Marlies forward Morgan Klimchuk has been suspended for three (3) games as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game vs. Binghamton on Dec. 19." _____ Also, this week's prospects update (from 12/18): https://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2018/12/18/18143937/new-jersey-devils-prospect-update-12-18-
LittleBallofHate 1,283 Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) Bing is playing tonight (Big comeback Win last night, 6-3 - Gignac with the hatty): https://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2018/12/22/18152055/brandon-gignacs-hat-trick-helps-binghamton-devils-in-6-3-comeback-win Snip: McLeod has been one player that you can’t help but notice when he’s on the ice. Always skating, always being involved and has been a nice addition with his renewed confidence with 18 points (5g,13a) in 30 games for his 1st professional season. Also: Rob Lippolis @RobLippolis BDevils really banged up. 82 combined points out of tonight's lineup. Injured: Strait, Jacobs, Pietila, Lappin, Studenic, Lack Ramage is sick and Tangradi suspended. Good Ty Smith interview c/o the Devils Insiders: https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2019/wm20/news/8482/an-education-in-excellence Looking beyond these World Juniors, you signed a three-year entry-level contract with New Jersey in August. Sami Vatanen and Will Butcher both play a somewhat similar style to yourself. What does that tell you in terms of your hopes of making the NHL soon? They’re not big guys. Sami’s a little bit tougher and meaner. But the way Butcher sees the game and thinks the game and the plays he makes, it’s great to see. They value that there. So that’s something I see as a positive. The coach, John Hynes, seems really fair and loves hard work and skill. Anybody could make the team any year, so it’s definitely a good place to be. HellOnICE 268 Posted December 27, 2018 I don't know too much about some of these guys, maybe MacIsaac does, but are we looking at this possibility next year competition for the big club? Zetterlund Boqvist Talvitie McLeod (maybe he builds out) Studenic Smith 1st rounder this year (assume it's Top 5?) feels like with the gap year this year in rookies, next year could be very interesting/fruitful?

Yep. Same league Petterson wrecked last year. It’s not a great league, but it’s encouraging to see a kid who’s only 20 years old doing well there. Boqvist had a good training camp this year too. I’d be shocked if he wasn’t on the team next year. He was considered a steal where we got him (36th overall in 2017). But he appears to be doing better than Tedenby who is a lot older and more experienced. It looks like Josefson is hurt again, surprise, surprise.

Josefson is chiefly a playmaker and has been getting his points that way. He ran the best powerplay in the league during the first half, same spot on the half wall as he had during his (brief) PP stints in NJ. 20 hours ago, HellOnICE said: I don't know too much about some of these guys, maybe MacIsaac does, but are we looking at this possibility next year competition for the big club? Josefson crosschecked a guy, got tripped and fell on the guy's skate blade and busted his urethra. I'm not making this up. There's no point in Zetterlund going over to the AHL next season unless it's Färjestad being stacked on forward and NJ wants to guarantee him icetime to keep him developing. He's not nearly ready to play in the NHL. I can see Boqvist coming over and playing wing. He'll sign with NJ in the summer. He leads the league in ES scoring and will be done with this level after this season is up. His shot and 1on1-game has really improved, does real well off the rush.
