No, but the age excuse is going to get more and more stale with each passing year. It is his 3rd full season as a pro. He has over 150 NHL games under his belt. He is not a rookie and is not green. At what age did you give up on Larsson? Asking for a friend. Larsson was looked at to defend, which is what he did fairly well. Zacha wasn't chosen at 6 overall with the idea of him being a PK specialist. Also, players chosen in the same draft are the same age and they are producing and they do not have to resort to the age excuse. Are we going to use the age excuse year after year? Are we going to get a 3rd training camp where Zacha will come in saying how much he improved and trained in the offseason and then show zip improvement? We know Zacha didn't choose his draft spot. Whether he was 6th or 16th he would still be considered disappointing and the age excuse is evaporating. I remember the age excuse being thrown around plenty on this forum with JJ and other busts in the past. This board is full of every excuse in the book. Yeah it was need for need so it wasn't quite the beating them by a country mile sort of victory, but it was very clear we got the better player from the get-go. Is there any GM out there willing to take on Zacha even if he grows into at least a serviceable player for a player of Hall's caliber? I'm not sure.
