And this is why teams are staying away from older players more and more...of course, the irony here is that he played in 311 games the past two seasons (including one playoff game).  But yeah, so Mets for this to happen.

Outstanding effort by Syndergaard against what seems like a dead in the water Nats team. Of course this Robles guy somehow owns him. Anyone named Robles on or against the Mets is going to result in massive HR's that's for sure.

Gotta admit, once he started giving up some hits, I thought Noah was on his way to a 6.2 IP, 4 ER kind of outing that would have us all shaking our heads...he's now a guy that I feel can come apart kind of easily...but it didn't happen, and he went 8 innings to boot (probably could've gone nine).  Now let me see him string two good outings together...he's also given up 4+ ER in six out of nine starts this season.  Just tired of the teases with him.

Yeah, Nats really look like a dead men walkin' kind of team right now...would be OK if the plan had been to take a step back after Harper's departure, but they certainly didn't pay up for Corbin with such a plan in mind.

And it looks like the Mets are REALLY going to have to try to clean up against the bad teams this season if they want to stay relevant, because I think good teams will expose their weaknesses quite a bit as the season unfolds.  That means winning 15+ games against the Marlins, 13+ against the Nats, and winning as many series against sub-.500 teams as possible.

Just noticed that Wilmer Font is getting another start today.  Guess if the Mets are going to go with him (and the fact that he's not Chris Flexen is good enough for me at this point), he might as well go against the struggling teams.

Not that it matters...you got what you paid for Brodie.  Now maybe get a real starter instead of a scrap heap zilch.

And Mickey, is there some unwritten rule that friggin’ Cano must hit third everyday?  Not like he’s been consistent at all.

And in comes the $30 million mop-up man.  At least there’s no pressure on him...so of course now he has a clean inning.

Another fine day for Fat Cat Cano.  He is really is friggin’ Roberto Alomar all over again.

Alonso's May going about as I thought it would:  .196/.260/.391 slash, 15 K in 12 GP.  His slash since 4/23 (19 GP) is .194/.263/.389, with 25 K.  What does this mean?  He could very well have a bright future for sure, but anyone expecting this kid to carry the team in 2019 or not experience typical growing pains and tough stretches (especially as pitchers adjust to him) is deluding themselves.  If he had these numbers to start with (without a hot start to buffer them), some fans would be wondering if he needed more AAA seasoning.  I do think he should be up here to stay, but like I said, think it's going to be tougher sledding for him for a while.

Yea Cano is really just moving in slow motion now. Extremely frustrating. Irritating. He's not hitting for power. He's not driving any runs in. When does this guy wake up already.

Look, I even get staying with him in the lineup for now, but could fvcking Mickey get off autopilot for five seconds and drop Cano in the lineup already?  Kinda hurts to keep getting nothing at all from your third-place hitter.

Zack doing a killer Wilmer Font imitation today...might not be making much of a killing in FA there pal...

And I'm sorry, if the Mets go down in yet another lifeless loss against the Nats...then just get Mickey the fvck out of here already.  Please!

Well, Cano of all people actually drives in a run, then Conforto with a 3-run bomb.  Suddenly it's 4-4.  At least it's a game now.

Great, now McNeil comes out because of "abdominal tightness"

Man baseball players are about as soft as it gets.  Truly.

An OF with both Broxton AND Lagares?  Yeah that lineup's not going to be a complete disaster...

And now it's 6-4 Nats.  Same ol Mets...

Of fvcking course Broxton strikes out in that spot...how could it turn out any differently?  Can BVW please get this complete nonentity off the team please?!  The fvcking guy CANNOT HIT!

Honorable Mention Mickey will surely praise the Mets for battling...whatever.  Come and get us, right Brodie?  fvck off.

They might as well give Carlos Gomez a try at this point, everyone this side of Brodie already knows Broxton is a AAAA player.  Maybe Gomez gets rejuvanated being back here for a bit, I'd rather see him getting fourth/fifth OF time than freaking Keon Broxton.

What's funny is Broxton actually kinda-sorta blamed lack of playing time, and pointed to how he has a "track record".  Dude, what fvcking track record?!  You're a career .216 hitter who's struck out in almost 37% of your plate appearances.  STFU you zilch-talent loser.

As much as I can't stand Gomez, yeah, at this point I'll give him a shot...why not?  Like you said, he's Not-Broxton.

lol yeah Robbie nothing major except a concussion and a trip to the 7-day concussion IL.  This is like Manny being Manny or the apocryphal Rickey Henderson moment where he's supposed to have not recognized John Olerud after playing with him.

Cano is going to be the torpedo that ultimately sinks USS Brodie...bringing a guy like him in is EXACTLY what the late 90s-early 00s New York Rangers would have done...guy is interesting in cashing paychecks at this point in his career...unlike Cespedes he'll actually bother to get on the field and play, but he couldn't be more like Roger Dorn if he tried...actually, he's more like the Met version of George Foster.  And I think he'll be as reviled when he 's done here.

BVW didn’t really sound like he had Mickey’s back yesterday, for whatever that’s worth.

Cano turns into an even fatter cat by the day.  How about BVW goes back to being an agent, Jeffy quits living under the charade that he’s a baseball man, and the Mets go out and hire a legitimate GM and let him do his fvcking job?!  Is it really so much to ask?

Yeah sorry Robbie, you can get away with loafing when you're hitting north of .300 and an All-Star on a 95-win team.  Can't get away with it when you're hitting .250 with no power on a team dying on the vine.  And that scoreboard was off excuse is weak sauce.  If you're into the game you don't need the damn scoreboard to tell you how many outs there are.

I think I hate Cano even more now.

Though the Mets’ “Are you my pal?” manager made it clear that he was never going to hold Cano to any real standard.
