2019 New York Mets Season Thread

Yet another dumb manager who decides that he must die with his closer, even when it’s obvious that the guy doesn’t have it.

Noah of course has his typical meh-ish kind of game...can’t hold a three-run lead.  And of course is hittable, because why wouldn’t he be?

Yeah, typical foot-to-the-balls Met loss. Same sh!t, different season.  I’m immune to this kind of crap now.

It seems like ghastly things always happen in Dodger Stadium in the regular season from Ryan Church missing third to the fiasco last night.  The Mets had to win this game to have any hope of staying relevant, I don't think 3-4 on the trip would be good enough and they'll lose for sure today with four-inning Vargas and a back of the bullpen that's now being managed as if it is IS the World Series every night.  This is why sometimes you head things off before they get too dire.  Instead of overusing Diaz and company the odd time early on now they have to do it every damn night because they put themselves in such a hole.

Man if this isn't a loser mentality...hey "Thor", are all of the other teams who've had no trouble hitting off you cheating too?

Yeah at least Diaz could maybe have an argument for crying about the Dodgers stealing signs or whatever, but Thor got smacked around by the popgun Tigers less than a week ago.

Earth to Mickey, Eiland, Ramos, etc...if you do think the Dodgers are stealing signs might be time to change them, eh?

From Mr. Big Tough Norseman this sounds absolutely pathetic. Shut up and figure things out Noah

Ryu’s really on a roll so far...and yeah, figures Vargas would somehow find a way to keep his team in the game...almost would’ve been easier to take if the Mets has just gotten curbstomped.

Sadly, though the Mets were only a .500 team before that disastrous 9-8 loss, that will be the game that we look back on that derailed the 2019 season.  Another June swoon is coming.

One of those games you would SWEAR the Mets were going to blow...only they didn’t. I’ll take it.

So apparently Nelson Figueroa was fired yesterday morning after showing up in a 'state not fit to work' on Thursday, per the Post.  Man if this guy does have personal issues I hope he finds some help for them.

Oh man, that’s a shame.  Hope he finds help and recovers.

Phillies supposedly interested in acquiring Jay Bruce from the Mariners (to replace Herrera, who jus let got busted for domestic violence).  He’s about as all-or-nothing as it gets now, but he has hit 14 dingers so far this year...and of course will be going to an absolute launching pad in CBP.  Has all of the makings of a solid fit on offense (wait till they see how bad he is defensively).

Let em have 'em. Can't say he won't have his spurts of productivity. In a big spot...with any sort of competent starter or reliever on the mound, he can be handled

Friggin’ Rosario...feels like one of those moments where the Mets will lament not fully stomping on Greinke.

Yeah I’m not a Bruce guy in the slightest, but if you play in a bandbox, there’s worse guys you could take a chance on.

Ha true, 4-0 that feels like it should be 6 or 7-0. So far though it's been a nice bounce back effort by deGrom and he's got a low pitch count here with 2 outs in the 6th. Hopefully he can take us all the way...or close to it

deGrom may have tweaked something in his hip. Things are getting dicey now. Feels like this game is about to implode for us

Familia is coming into the game...going to be at least 4-3 going into the 8th.

Well at least he held them right there...didn’t think he had it in him.

And serious kudos to Dom Smith...all the guy’s done is hit just about every time he gets in games.  He’s forced himself to be relevant, and for the Mets to find a place for him.

Familia has a serious issue with hit batsmen at the wrong damn time. I know he doesn't try to do it but god damn is his control absolutely horrendous. Why the hell do you need to hit Locastro between the numbers to start the 8th?

And of course now Nido hurts himself fielding a little nubber in front of the mound and we have 1st and 3rd, zero out.

And now of course it’s starting to go to sh!t.

And yeah, you’re really playing with fire anytime you bring the $30 million man into a game.  This guy is absolute gasoline.  And of course Mickey the Moron isn’t going to take him out just yet.
