2-on-1s are so hard to play 100% correctly lol. But yes, it's true that the right play is usually to play the pass and let the goalie face the shooter. Maybe he thought Seves would get back to JVR in time.

Eh, JVR took a perfect shot on the short side. Little Greene could have done to close that option off.

My point was if Greene really booked it I think he could've caught up to JVR around the blue line area and prevented him from even getting a shot off at all.  If he was a little closer to him, I think JVR would've opted to pass to whoever was coming down the slot, and sure that would've made it more challenging for the goalie, but there's more risk for the forwards there too because they have to connect on the pass.  I guess I overestimated Greene's speed maybe, which is stupid of me. At any rate though, I didn't think JVR's shot was necessarily great.  The placement was obviously fine since he scored, but the shot itself seemed to be more of a flutter/chipshot rather than some bullet or snipe. You could see even BW was upset that he missed it.

Just saw Sal talking about that and the replay.  Sucks, but that crap happens.  I'm just happy we're playing a pretty solid all around game, even if it is against the crappy Flyers.  Let's have a strong third period and come away with two points and I'll be happy.

The fact that it was a "chipshot" was exactly what made it a good shot. So smooth, quick release, fooled MB.
