Is it me or am I now seeing Taylor Hall a lot more than I ever did when the Devils were actually, you know, playing hockey?

To be fair, the season is over now... he’s on his own time. The team probably told him to lay low during the season.

Oh I know, not ripping Taylor or anyone else, or making any bold statements.  Just a random observation.

I don’t think his beach pictures would have been well received if they were posted while he was on IR.

It can only be a good thing that he's putting in time with the owners, presumably speaking with Shero as well.

Fingers crossed.  I'm fairly optimistic about this one, don't know why.  Never felt this good about Parise.

Because it’s not Lou.

I felt this good about Parise when the video circulated of him walking outside The Rock talking to fans saying “Don’t worry, I’m staying.”

Until I watch his press conference, I’m staying in my baseline “needlessly pessimistic”.

Difference is that Parise had about a month before he could take bids from everyone some of whom could offer a lot more money and the owner at the time was broke.

No it was reported that Lou's offer was "fair". And his dad didn't have cancer yet at that point i'm pretty sure.

Also it's too long of a deal for me to find that plausible. I mean I guess it could have been a factor, or the entire reason, we'd never know.

The Devils couldn't touch that signing bonus. It was something ridiculous like 20 million. I believe the rumored Devils offer was 7 years 7 million or something like that. And supposedly it was us or Minny, he wasn't considering anyone else

It's useless to try to figure out specifics when the player is weeks away from free agency and has 100% of the leverage, as a GM you simply cannot let that happen for your top players. Even if the player do end up signing back with you. Its incredibly dumb to risk it. To make a long story short. Parise walked cause Lou let him get in a position where he could choose to walk. And as much as there was some complications around the parise situation, it was NOT an isolated case cause the same thing happened with Elias, Rafalski, Nieds, Gomez, Holik, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc The only time it didn't bite us in the ass was Elias. Let that sink in. He let fvcking ELIAS walk.

And again, that's in the past thank god. And Shero's approach is flawless so far with his free agents through his career. So we have no reasons to worry. We had all the reasons in the world to worry with Zach cause it happened countless times before with Lou.

I mean if you let your dog play in the road and he's hit by a dude driving while texting... sure buddy was texting and that's out of your control so it's easy to put all the blame on him but you did let your dog be in a position where it could happen. So it's on you.

Parise’s dad wasn’t diagnosed with cancer until about two years after Zach signed with Minnesota.

Sorry not true. Unless Parise lied to the Athletic when they did an article on this a few months back (but why would he lie now). It was MIN, CHI, PIT from memory. Definitely not us.

No, the Devils offered him something very fair, I've heard like 10 years $80 million.  But there was no large up front money and probably none of the lockout protection that he got from Minnesota.

He has definitely lied about the teams at some point, cause he claimed we were in the running in the past.

I felt good for him he was close to his dad when he passed, especially during his twilight days, but all in all, he could have taken a leave of absence from the team as it came to the end to be with him and none of us would have faulted him for it.

Either way, he has lied about the process so my trust in anything he says is out the window.

Back on topic: It has to be a good thing that Hall is rubbing elbows with the owners this early out right?

Like they can't sign before 1 July, but its not like the courting period and they are allowed to talk term and value, right?

Didn't he said in the article in the Athletic that he went into the 2012 playoffs knowing he wasn't going to be a Devil?  Like the teams he was considering didn't even include the Devils.

Forever Suter's bitch-boy.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to derail this thread into a Parise discussion.  But since we're here, a couple items from The Athletic's article (it came out ages ago, I'm assuming it's fine to post them here):

On he and Suter playing together - really reflects poorly on Zach imo:

On where Parise was leaning while Suter was talking to Minnesota:

Lastly, on Suter convincing Parise to come to Minnesota and their owner stepping up:

I'm omitting a ton of stuff here - it's a great article: Halfway into Parise-Suter deals, here’s the full story of how it all went down

Bingo.  He never really considered us - we weren't as talented as the teams he was looking at, and we weren't offering nearly the same dollars.  I also heard we had a 7 x 7 deal on the table, and then something a little larger.. how the hell could he even seriously consider that when teams were offering him 100M+?

I guess we have Suter to thank for him not winning multiple cups with the Penguins or Hawks.
