Good veteran presence with some skill, so yes.

Still a former Ranger so fvck him every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

As long as he doesn't re-sign with Dallas and get the Rangers another pick, I'm happy.

I’ve said from day 1 I would love Zucc. He’s a fast and skilled player which is what we like to have, but by all accounts he’s one of the best locker room guys in the sport.

Yea I think I'm in that camp as well. I'm surprised I haven't seen his name floating around more as a desirable option.

Regarding the QO's yesterday, I am happy with who was given one and who wasn't. Not surprising Noesen's run in NJ has come to an end. There were times last season I literally forgot he was on the team. We pretty much got his best 30-40 game stretch of his NHL career in the 17-18 season.

As for the HHOF vote, it is still shocking how Mogilny is still not in. Out of the list of eligible players for this season, he seemed to most accomplished one. He had that monster 76-goal season in 92-93 and was still a pretty consistent 30-40 goal scorer for much of his career. He also averaged more than a PPG for his career. He won a cup with the Devils in 2000 so there is that too.

From what I have heard, the HHOF selection committee is still pretty slanted towards French Canadian players. If so, that would make sense as to why Guy Carbonneau was selected this year. Yeah he won the Selke multiple times, but by that standard Jere Lehtinen should be in there as well and he is definitely not worthy of being in the HHOF. Both have 3 Selke trophy wins so it is a push there, but Jere had 514 points in 875GP for a career ppg average of .59 while Guy had 663 points in 1318GP for a career average of .50. The only thing that Guy edges Jere in is 3 cups to Jere's 1 but that is team award.

I am actually OK with Zubov being selected. I have to remember that the prime of his career was during the dead puck era and high-scoring defenseman were few and far between. He was one of them and would have had better point totals if the prime of his career was not dead stuck in the 95-04 era.

I still think Elias is borderline. To me, HHOF induction means that you have a few things; 1) hardware, which Elias largely lacks outside of 2 cups which is a team award and 2) best at your position in your era. He was really only that sort of guy in 3 seasons: 00-01, 03-04 and the half-season of 05-06 for him. I think the selection committee in the future will take into account that Elias probably sacrificed about 150-200 career points by playing on some low-scoring Lou teams, but I think Elias getting in his not an obvious slam-dunk thing.

While there were a lot of forwards, only a few defensemen though. After this, the other options are offer sheets and that could possibly be Marner and Meier.

I am floored Del Zotto is only 29. I would have guessed mid 30's. It feels like he has been around forever now.

A dark horse team for offer sheets are the Avs who I feel will target Marner this offseason. They have the centers and are going to be very good for years to come.

Personally, knowing Shero, I dont think he will go after Marner, maybe Meier or similar points and value when it comes to RFAs. I dont see him gutting the salary cap for a elite player like Marner. Hearing rumors that some teams are going to offer Marner 14 million and Marner is no where near generational.

From UFAs, I would definitely want Lee, if we get Lee then we don't need Meier. We also have a need for 3 proper RWs and Donskoi could possibly fill one spot (2nd or 3rd RW). Brett Conolly could also be a potential fit. If Lee is signed, then Wood, Bratt or Coleman could possibly be traded or even Zacha as Lee is listed as C/LW.

VGK is an absolute mess right now and should be ripe to be fleeced out of 2-3 really good players with good contracts.

Hall - Hischier - Palmieri

Bratt - Hughes - ???

Coleman - Zajac - ???

Wood - Zacha - ???

This year is unique in a sense that we have not seen such a large number of really good UFAs and RFAs hit the market at once. Devils can become a perennial playoff team this summer and then look to trade towards the deadline to make a possible run.

I agree with Mogilny, but that monster season in 1992 was during one of those "Everyone has a million points" years. 76 goals and he wasn't even top-5 in points. I believe he only broke 50 goals one more time in his career.

EDIT: Mario Lemieux had 160 points in fvcking sixty games played that year. Holy sh!t.

You're not wrong and that season was a complete shooting gallery for the NHL. IIRC he still had 8 of his 16 seasons where he scored 30+ goals and many during the dead-puck era. He also averaged more than a PPG which Guy Carbonneau cannot claim by a country mile.

I'd be very surprised if Boqvist doesnt get a chance to show what he's got and that could see Bratt on the right. I agree that Shero is likely to look at Meier, Lee or Donskoi rather than Marner.

I'm not going to forsake a player who can help this team because he played for a rival. Who cares? Its about who can help the Devils win, and if Zuccs can do it and is willing, sign him up.

Good for you.

I feel the opposite.

It's called an opinion. Just saying.

I know he's a talented player but I'm just echoing how I feel about him (just like mfitz did but apparently only he is allowed to voice such an opinion without being "reprimanded" by everyone).

I'm open to this, depending on price of course. Frolik is a pretty good middle 6 winger with awesome underlying numbers.

Me, too.

He would be a good signing to help the Devils.

(now watch MB3 say "No. he's not a good signing" all because I said it would be. Contrarian-extraordinaire)

And I shared my opinion, too. You might want to try being slightly less defensive.

Everyone keeps telling me this.

And frankly, I'm sick of it 'cause it sounds like a lame excuse for bad behavior.

When someone continuously insults you, talks down to you, is condescending, you shouldn't be expected to take sh*t like that lying down.

(I'm not referring to anything you said. I'm talking about certain others)

EDIT : Plus, mfitz said pretty much the same thing I said and yet you didn't say anything to HIM....only me.

Are there different rules for different posters that I'm not aware of? Seems like there is.

Ah, the classic "everyone keeps telling me this--how can they all be so wrong" explanation. I remember being a teenager too.
