The money doesn't matter. If he's our 3rd or 4th line RW, I think he can only exceed expectations.

I don't hate it as a 1 year deal, the money being more than I would have expected, but insignificant in the grand scheme.

Don't know Shero's plan, maybe we will be getting another winger and a dman.

i mean a Wood - Zacha - Simmonds 4th line is pretty good IMO

Simmonds will slow that line, I expect him on the 3rd line with Coleman and Zajac.

I mean you don't have to be fast to hit people often, Wood's fast and he misses

So something like this so far i guess...

Hall - Hischier - Bratt

Boqvist - Hughes - Palms

Coleman - Zajac - Simmonds

Wood - Zacha - Anderson

Vatanen - Subban

Butcher - Severson

Greene - Smith

Mueller - Carrick

Schneider

Blackwood

This is a confusing signing as this board has gone silent, will have to see what Shero has to say in and post trade deadline interview.

About right

Hall - Hischier - Bratt
Boqvist - Hughes - Palms
Coleman - Zajac - Simmonds
Wood - Zacha - Anderson
Rooney/Hayden

Vatanen - Subban
Butcher - Severson
Greene - Smith
Mueller/Carrick

Schneider
Blackwood

Is Boqvist ready for the NHL top 6 duty? Is Smith ready? I still feel we need to upgrade our D, Chiarot or Gardiner could help our situation.

Pretty big ask of Boqvist but I don't hate those lines, especially the D pairs

Hate the idea of Bratt as 1RW.  Also think it's a lot to ask for Boqvist to step in as 2LW.

Looking at his stats last year looks a bit of an outlier. Hopefully he can bounce back a bit.

Speaking of his stats, I was just looking at them as well and I feel like I always point it out, but it's something that I think is under-valued and always seems to stick out to me with players when I see it - Simmonds is remarkably healthy.  In 12 seasons he's only missed 27 games, which means he's suited up for 957 out of a possible 984, good for 97.2%.  Every team gets hit with the injury big, but last year was especially bad for us, so this is something that I think should mean something to us.

The other day i immediately ordered Hughes and Subban jerseys. I will not be getting a Simmonds.

If he recorded a video of himself holding up a Flyers jersey and lighting it on fire and posting it to Twitter, then would you?

I'm not a huge fan of the Simmonds deal but he brings some toughness and grit which was missing last year, plus some scoring ability not including last year.

Yea, def not a bad idea to add some grit. We need a player that can stand up when someone whacks at our goalie or trys to take a run at our franchise guys. Has NJ had that since Clarkson/Janssen? Seems like forever. Boyle was all talk.

Well Gabriel, but he was all over the place and didn't have much hockey ability
