Huh? We aren’t on the way up? We have one of the best U23 player pools in the league including TWO first overall picks. The end product is obviously not there yet but to say we aren’t on the up is off.

That means we may be on the way up soon, but clearly we aren’t right now. They’re already moving, we’re getting ready to move.

What a disgraceful franchise the Rags are. Queenie’s got one year left, 38 years old spent his entire career carrying your lame ass teams and you can’t let him finish the last year and go out with class?

i wish nothing more than if he feels the same way as you do. Plus he was all-in to go through the rebuild with them when he was asked about it and had the option to opt-out while he had time, he decided to stick with them and be loyal and then they threw him away.

How can they KEEP doing this constantly with their players they throw all the money at but players keep going there?

At the same time, we can at least appreciate that they didn't convince him to "retire". Then they would of regained that full 8.5m on the cap. And overall good for him. He's still going to get that money. Plus he'll be signing another contract... somewhere. So he'll endup making more money and getting paid from a team he's not even playing for anymore

Lundqvist is not getting ALL of that money, but def a nice chunk of it:

Yeah, he's obviously meant a lot to the Rangers and spent his entire prime there and will make it to the HHOF (even with no rings)...but if the end goal is trying to get better, and they have younger and more capable goalies on hand (which they clearly do)...this is simply the right move, even if it seems to be cold.  He's 38 years old and he's now four seasons removed from his prime.

Almost $13 million in dead cap space for the Rangers whenever the new season begins.  They actually do have a lot of cap space even with the dead money, but also need to sign a lot of guys too...not that many players currently under contract.

Looks like there'll be a lot of goalies on the market this year. As long as the rumour about Lundqvist signing for the Devils turns out to be just that, a rumour.

Yikes.

Lundqvist with something left in the tank would be hard enough to take as a Devil...I sure as hell don't want anything to do with the "Barely on Fumes" version of Henrik.  His last two seasons have not been good.

that dead cap space could be what prevents them from signing Pietrangelo so we can thank god for that

I'd love to believe you but Gorton must have pictures of the other GMs doing some pretty shady sh!t, he always seems to get one of them to bail him out.

Well it's not even him... its just the city / team...

They've been doing the saaaaame sh!t for decades. Yet players keep flocking there.

It's truly like seeing girls constantly go after obvious douchebags with terrible reputations of fvcking over girls. Thinking it won't be the same with them. Then they obviously get fvcked over. And go "men are all the same!!!" lol No you're just a dumb bitch who can't see giant red flags, thats on you.

Players signing huge contracts in NY are the same way.
