Which is why the firing was completely ridiculous and unfair. The team has been winning lately.

A win here and there is hardly much to write home about. If we put together a 5 or 6 game streak I’d understand the outrage a little better.

We haven’t won more than 3 games in a row all season. And it took until January for that to happen.

Post-first round players tend to take a little longer to develop and again we have some of those guys developing nicely in the minors/juniors. Btw Boqvist looks like he’ll be a nice player, doesn’t he?

I do like Boqvist but people here tell me he’s been awful this season lol

LOL who cares about a meaningless win against the Caps in January when the season ended by Halloween?  And a season where the team was supposed to be better at that.

If anything the improved results lately make Shero look bad for both extending Hynes last year and waiting too long to fire him now.  But that's far from the only reason the owners had to make a change.  Clearly Shero wanted to rebuild again since he's allergic to re-signing anyone who'll be over 30 during the contract but the owners weren't having it, especially after getting so little out of this one.  It was a philosophical difference more than actually being results-based although the results were bad enough to merit a change.

The team’s horrid start forced Shero to become sellers. Can’t fault him for having that mindset at this point. If they want to fire him for Schneider laying an egg this season and sticking with Hynes an extra month then that’s really harsh.

Very odd to just look at points as he’s been playing 8 mins a night and is new to the continent. But he certainly looks like he has the tools even at his young age

This exactly. Playing bottom-line minutes with bottom-line players in a checking role will do that for you. This shouldn't be his role and he should be given some kind of opportunity to play on a regular basis with efficient offensive guys to put his skills and tools to use.

He’s also mostly played on the 4th line with guys like Hayden and Rooney.

Coleman who's been one of our best player in the last few season was drafted in the 3rd round in 2011 and made the NHL in 2016.

another example of context that too many fans simply cannot understand.

Caron has been drafting for like... 4 years.. OBVIOUSLY not a lot of his picks will be in the NHL now, it takes time

you know who doesnt understand hockey when they just give you a straight stat or result to support their argument and ignore context completely lol

Please stop saying people don’t understand hockey. It’s incredibly condescending and rude. I’m pretty sure everyone that posts here has a basic understanding of the game. I know you’re pissed about your boy, but no need to lash out at people.

Given the owners‘ history with the sixers, they likely wanted to keep selling off players to tank.

Except they denied it in the presser and say they want results.  Not to mention they spent a lot of money this offseason, so I don't see how anyone could suggest the owners 'still' are fine with tanking after taking on PK's contract, signing Simmonds, etc.  While Shero's the one who was blase over keeping Hall, Vat even before the season went to crap.

Heck maybe they wanted a bigger-name coach and Shero said no.  There was definitely a philosophical divide.

What’s your theory for the timing of the firing? Why wasn’t he fired last month?

Thats because i understand context.

5 years is a long time to pick a movie on Netflix but to rebuild a team from the team in 2015 with no assets... its not long tho

Nah you just still always think you're smarter than you actually are but please give us some long ass analogy yet again comparing how Shero only dated his gf for 5 years but didn't get a chance to propose yet because he was waiting for another 5 years before actually doing anything or some nonsense bullsh!t like you normally do.

Well on their way to the third consecutive playoff birth; playoff series wins in consecutive seasons and took the eventual champion Raptors to 7 games (who needed a buzzer beater to end it)... that’s the way.

Only after the league stepped in and forced them to stop tanking.  Perhaps they learned something from that and the Sixers becoming a lot more valuable as a relevant franchise.

So are you saying we can expect Vats to be resigned now?

The Devils should be selling some pieces unless there's some sort of miracle run.  And that has something to do with the defense the Devils are clearly trying to build for the future, which is based on having more of them that play a heavier game.  Fitzgerald seems to be much more involved and knowledgable when it comes to scouting, so perhaps it was more his vision than Shero's.

Harris claimed it wasn't "just one thing" but yeah, I don't think it was a coincidence that we were hearing rumors that Palmieri was available.

Sorry but anyone ignoring context when looking at any results doesn't know what they are doing. At any level and at anything in life.

Who knows, but I don't think it was any one specific thing (unless the Palmieri rumors had merit, that could be a push the nuclear button type situtation) - more like a lot of things that added up.
