Huh? Then why the fvck are they allowed to participate in the lottery?! That’s bullsh!t.

I agree, but if it were true the Devils would already own the pick and if van lost would get another shot at the lottery.

OH well.

I can’t figure out if we want this year’s pick or next year’s pick.

This year’s. I really don’t see Vancouver taking a step back next season. They have a pretty good young team. I guess it’s possible Hughes could have a sophomore slump though, or Pettersson, Boeser, etc could get hurt (not that I’d wish for that). But this draft is supposed to be the deepest in a while. Rather have it now.

Yeah I also rather the pick be 2020.  Devils could get another top prospect a year sooner to get this sh!t show off the ground.

Probably makes sense. Unless some stupid sh!t happens again and Vancouver winds up with the 2021 1st.

Sadly, that won’t move the needle. Big stars like Crosby, McDavid, etc., need to pull out.

i dont even know what i'm hoping for lol

All i want is to get 2 extra good first round picks this year and MTL, ARI and NYR not winning the lottery. The season being cancelled can really either facilitate some of those things just as much as costing us those things... we just gotta hope for the best

Stop me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Mike Green a free agent...?

I will NEVER fault people for pulling out of playing. I’d rather them not give a reason, just say “nah, I’m out.”

All these baseball players taking this moral high ground crap stance honestly pisses me off.

I’m honestly too lazy to find specifics, but some are doing for family (100% justifiable) but others are trying to say things are bigger than the game or that the owners aren’t doing enough or what have you.

I’m never going to question someone if they say, “hey, I’m out” unless they decide to justify it and I do not agree. I’ll criticize that approach if we don’t share the same views, obviously, but if a person just rides into the sunset this season, hell go for it

I haven't really been keeping up with what could happen with the draft in a few months because I felt like a lot could still change and there's still a bit of time before it actually happens, but is the above actually not what's going to happen, and if so, why?  What excuse did the NHL come up with to deny us a pick that seems like it should, pretty plainly and logically, be ours?

I imagine it's something insanely stupid and along the lines of "Oh, well, all of the rules and conditions from the trade were technically satisfied, but they didn't occur under normal circumstances, everything was out of whack because of Covid, so we're just going to say screw it and Vancouver gets to keep their pick.  It wouldn't be fair to them.  You understand, right?  Great."
