Steve Kampfer, Zach Trotman, Mike Green, Sven Baertschi...

Sadly, that won’t move the needle. Big stars like Crosby, McDavid, etc., need to pull out.

Huge news for us: little guy just got home. COVID negative. still no results on the viral but either way. They’re home and off quarantine. All the thoughts, prayers and good vibes to @MB3, @mfitz

This does need to be treated seriously but at the same time panic doesn't help anyone.  The current mortality rate for Covid-19 is  4% for known reported cases , seasonal influenza mortality rate

That’s good. The workers at the Rock are some of the nicest and most friendly I’ve ever encountered at a sporting event. Glad they will be taken care of.

i dont even know what i'm hoping for lol

All i want is to get 2 extra good first round picks this year and MTL, ARI and NYR not winning the lottery. The season being cancelled can really either facilitate some of those things just as much as costing us those things... we just gotta hope for the best

Stop me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Mike Green a free agent...?

I will NEVER fault people for pulling out of playing. I’d rather them not give a reason, just say “nah, I’m out.”

All these baseball players taking this moral high ground crap stance honestly pisses me off.

I’m honestly too lazy to find specifics, but some are doing for family (100% justifiable) but others are trying to say things are bigger than the game or that the owners aren’t doing enough or what have you.

I’m never going to question someone if they say, “hey, I’m out” unless they decide to justify it and I do not agree. I’ll criticize that approach if we don’t share the same views, obviously, but if a person just rides into the sunset this season, hell go for it

I haven't really been keeping up with what could happen with the draft in a few months because I felt like a lot could still change and there's still a bit of time before it actually happens, but is the above actually not what's going to happen, and if so, why?  What excuse did the NHL come up with to deny us a pick that seems like it should, pretty plainly and logically, be ours?

I imagine it's something insanely stupid and along the lines of "Oh, well, all of the rules and conditions from the trade were technically satisfied, but they didn't occur under normal circumstances, everything was out of whack because of Covid, so we're just going to say screw it and Vancouver gets to keep their pick.  It wouldn't be fair to them.  You understand, right?  Great."

It's  because Vancouver didn't make the Playoffs.  Which is the tournament of 16 teams.  If they win their series against Minne, then yeah, we get the pick.  I think it's because the intention of the clause is implying that the pick will be in the second half of the draft.  The play in isn't the Playoffs.

The fact that the NHL is counting the stats of the play in as postseason stats is more so the confusing part.  I can see both sides of that argument and I'm just happy that I didn't have to make that decision.  Yeah, the games are going to feel like playoff games since they are against the same team and players face elimination, so I feel that it does represent the "clutch" that is baked into postseason stats.  But on the other hand, I do think that it is a little unfair to count those extra games as postseason games played.  Players on a team that go from the play in to the Stanley Cup Finals will have the opportunity to unfairly break other postseason records because they were given an extra 5 game series to pad the stats.  Now the important question.. does it really matter to me?  fvck no.  I just like arguing.

Going to be interesting to see what happens here, there's apparently conflicting reports that these teams are exempt from this but since it's breaking news nothing is confirmed yet. If it's true I don't see how you can keep people out of outdoor stadiums and not indoor arenas so I don't see crowds for the Flyers or 76ers and I'd imagine NJ and probably NYC will end up doing the same as this...

This is a good explanation and I agree with you. They are playing word games rather than just picking a stance and saying Yes or No. So even if Vancouver loses the play-in round they will still have been considered to have made it to the "postseason" as far as their team stats/playoff streak is concerned yet they also haven't made the playoffs at the same time.

I don't see how the Devils have fans inside the arena come December 1st at this point, they will do what the NFL has been doing and wait until a few weeks before so they can hold on to the money as long as possible...
