Nas back as an assistant - boooooooooooooooo

Colorado Rockies 1976

Devils were 87 points per season under Nas. Without Hall. Without Greene, Vatanen and Coleman in last 10 games. In last 17 games devils win 10 games, lose 5, 2 OT. 106 points per season hehe. I`m understand that was a hot strick, but Nas deserve his work. Like it or not. Perhaps they should hire a defense specialist and give Nasreddine to concentrate on the PK.

first priority for me was replacing Nass as the HC, unfortunately for me they went with Ruff who's only real positive was he isn't Nass. Cleaning out the assistants would of seemed like a no-brainer but yet Nass still stands. Far from ideal in my book but whatever. Drop the puck again at some point (who the hell knows when and where) and hopefully they suck less this time around. Too much to ask?  It gets easier to care less the older I get.  But it sure would be nice to turn this thing around at some point.

Maybe some coaches want to keep at least one person who knows the group. I mean i know some coaches does it but if you land with a new group with no players that you know, not a GM you worked with before, only have a few weeks of training camp and will be expected to perform right away... you may want one person that knows the players and the guys on your side. or at least give it a shot.

What about the fact that Ruff basically took his job? I mean he was only interim, but he was the head coach and now he’s not. That seems like it would be a weird dynamic.

Kiiiiiind of like when you dump your GF then marry her dad and ask her to be the flower girl. Weird dynamic.

You’re absolutely killing it lately lol.

I laughed at my own comment simply cause i just threw the first name that came to mind, which was Nicolas lol. Then looked at it and realized his username is Nicomo... i don't know if i subconsciously went with something close or if it's pure coincidence.

We'll actually never know.

Just gonna put this out there: there was a coach who had Peter Harrold playing top PP minutes and was getting solid play out of Mark Fayne, AT THE SAME TIME.

Nas is 100% nowhere on that level. He doesn’t deserve yet another chance, IMO

EDIT: I’ve been drinking and am still mad so blah, don’t use logic. Fire the frog in a human skin suit.

I mean OF COURSE Trotz is a better coach. But he also have WAYYYYYYYY better tools at his disposal. When you can lose Tavares without skipping a beat... you had a great roster to work with, something we do not have.

What a visionary GM they must have

Andy Greened his way right to the Conference finals...

somehow amazing how to some fans... Shero landed the worst roster i've ever seen... then deserves all the blame for not turning it around fast enough. Then to the same fans, Lou landed a very solid roster who underachieved 2 years in a row after making the playoffs 3 years out of the previous 4. So solid they lost one of the best player in the game and didn't skip a beat... but then all the credits has to go to him? lol i mean come on.

Lou's main contributions to the Isles so far:  naming Trotz to be his coach (was nice for Lou that Trotz was actually available, after winning a Cup no less, but at least he went right out and got him), and getting a lot out of Robin Lehner for one year and signing Varlamov to a reasonable deal (Greiss has also played better the past two seasons, which had helped).  Lou has also seen some nice play out of Greene (a guy most of us here were done with).

Not saying that he had to build the Isles from the ground up or has performed miracles, but he's done some good things with the Isles to date.  Certainly hasn't hurt them.
