Never should’ve left. His second stint in the NHL was pretty much a disaster.

Unless it was like my local Chase bank or some other well-known bank, I would never do that. It could be an example of being rich doesn’t make you smart. Or, he could’ve done everything right, checked them out, etc., and then he got screwed. Really sucks.

So they would be able to sign their players for the season and figure out what to do as the season progress Apparently not - Tampa just traded Paquette, Coburn, and a 2nd round pick to Ottawa for Gaborik and Nilsson, both of whom are also LTIR. We all knew this would happen eventually... I guess they got what they wanted (a Cup), so it's hard to say it wasn't worth it. Most of their corp is still in tact too - they might actually get a shot at the Cup a few more times before their roster eventually unravels due to cost shedding. Colorado Rockies 1976
Perry was quite the prolific goal-scorer in his 20s...averaged 31 G per 82 GP from Age 22-24, and then 40 G per 82 GP from Age 25-30 (including a couple of early development years, he put up 330 G in 804 GP over his first 11 seasons). His dropoff has been quite dramatic...just 47 G in his last 214 GP, and of course is now playing for pennies in his upcoming Age 35 season. Hard to believe he probably won't crack 400 goals for his career (currently at 377). His production dropped off a bit beforehand going from 34 goals in 15-16 to 19 goals & 17 goals in 16-17 & 17-18 but after that season the torn meniscus and MCL injury that he had to get surgery on made him lose a lot of the speed that he use to have and ruined any chance for him to get back to what he use to be. He still had 5 goals for the Stars in the playoffs this year though, some pretty big ones too but he basically reinvented himself to become a "garbage" goal scorer now cause he was standing in the crease for most of them... Colorado Rockies 1976
Yeah my 47 G in 214 GP included the 15-16 and 16-17 seasons. Those seasons were at least respectable (though clearly not near what people were used to seeing from Perry), but yeah, in the last two, just 11 goals in 88 regular season games. Tri once posted about players who start very young can often decline on the younger side too (think Scott Gomez, who was pretty steady through his first 10 seasons, and cracked the NHL at 19...and pretty much dropped off a cliff for most of the rest of his career, in his 30s). And yeah, tough when the wrong type of injury relegates a player to "in name only" status. Perry won't ever be Perry again.
