I did. I just didn’t want to say more than that in case others haven’t but intend to.

Right.

I'll say this though. And that was part of The Silence of the Lamb and the book too so it's not much of a spoiler. The whole, bunch of men acting like a$$hole to a character cause they are a girl or wtv. Again, i know it does fit in this story and with the time it's set in. It was well done in The Silence of the Lamb. You felt it visually in the opening scene in the elevator and through the movie. But movies or tv shows these days are soooooo fvcking bad at it and doing it wrong it's making my eyes roll constantly.

Like, obviously that's happening in real life. But any minorities or any groups that can be marginalized. They put them in their movies/tv shows and always have the typical one dimensional jerks being jerks to them and they really shove down your throats like "SEE HOW MUCH OF AN a$$holE YOU ARE IF YOU DO THIS!%??!!". It's sooooooo fvcking lazy.

If you really want to stop the stigma around.... fat people, gay people, trans, asian, black people, etc etc etc just fvcking put them in the movie like they are just another character and have them being cool and not treated any differently than anyone else. That should be what we all want. But no, these shows are always made by people with a liberal repressed bitterness and they just want to shove it down everyone's throat constantly to shame people and it's always hurting the overall story and actually not helping the cause. It's like getting a new girlfriend/boyfriend who was cheated on and treated poorly and they just keep bringing it up constantly and turning everything you do into that. It's just ruining the relationship. (like in The Last Jedi where they got that whole fvcking non-sense with Laura Dern and Poe Dameron. It was 100% written to call out toxic masculinity and it made no sense in the story, why didn't she just fvcking tell him the plan? lol and the first thing Poe says was "ohh i always thought the famous vice-admiral holdo was a man" (roll eyes) They just wanted to shove it in our face again and force that unecessary plot in the movie which ultimately didn't help the messy movie. Then the whole casino planet thing, same thing, they put their damn narrative before good storytelling. And it's keeping the stigma alive cause it's showing the next generations that there IS a difference with these groups/people. Monkey see, monkey do.

Buffy the vampire slayer did it best (of course recently Joss wheddon is in hot water for other stuff he did on that series) but he was a driving force in the 90s for women empowerment and many of these causes. He fought the studio to have the first ever gay kiss on network tv. And he never made a big deal out of his gay characters. They were just gay, thats it. He never fell into the lazy "oh look at all these a$$holes being a$$holes to the gay person!". Same thing with many other things. That's good writing. He always had these themes in everything but it was a lot more subtle, effective and not knocking you on the head with it.

Click the eyeball and you can post spoilers in there that way people can just click it if they have seen it.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna watch simply because when it comes to new shows I usually wait on first seasons to find out if they get renewed or not first.

Alcatraz on fox was the final straw for me years ago, got burned on a cliffhanger and then it got cancelled lol

Will be watching Clarice tonight (recorded it).  Hoping for good things.

I've been watching Big Sky...in a "six degrees" moment, Brooke Smith (who played the original Catherine Martin in Silence of the Lambs of course) has a pretty significant role in Big Sky (as the unsuspecting wife of a incredibly corrupt Montana State Trooper).  She looks older of course, but is instantly recognizable.  I've seen her here and there, in other performances...I'll always see her as that poor unfortunate soul in the bottom of Buffalo Bill's pit.

I also watch Big Sky and I had the same thought.

The reviews for Clarice look terrible. Not sure how many episodes the reviewers got to see (usually at least 3-4), but it sounds like a pass for me.

You should definitely go by what you observe rather than what other people tell you, I mean maybe its showing flashes of brilliance and its going to improve in the future. 😀

Did the know the singer in Toto was the son of the man who wrote the music for Star Wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Close Encounter of the 3rd kind, etc etc etc etc

I did not know that, but I see he joined the band in the late 80s after the band's heyday. I'm a Toto fan, especially the brilliant drumming of the late Jeff Porcaro.

As a drummer myself, Jeff Porcaro is one of my favorites.  Guy was one of the very best... I was crushed when he passed (he was only 38).

The Rosanna Shuffle is legendary. This is also one of my favorites with Jeff Porcaro playing the drums.

Read his credits list sometime.  Guy played on SO many songs.

When I would practice, one of the songs I used to play was Toto’s “Hold The Line”.  It’s just a perfect drum track.

I'm not a huge TV watcher, so instead I'll choose my top-10 entertainment outside of hockey overall (including TV)

1. Golf. I've recently caught the bug and I'm helplessly addicted. Range 4 days a week, 18 holes twice a week. I started tracking my HCP when I first took lessons ~8 months ago as a 44. Today I play off of an 11, and my goal is to be single-digits by the time I make a boys trip to Streamsong in March.

2. Warzone. I've never been a big videogames person in my life, but all of my best friends play Warzone and it was an unreal way to "hang out" with my buddies every day during COVID. Even more fun, my best friend who lives far away from me talk every. single. day. We used to have a chat twice a month, now I know what he eats for dinner every night. It's awesome. i'm terrible, but who cares.

3. Other sports, though that's not been easy. I'm a die-hard Yankee fan. My dad is from Texas, so unfortunately he made me a Cowboys fan. And both of my parents went to Duke, so I'm currently enduring the worst season of Duke men's basketball since the 1980s.

4. The occasional TV show. I was all in on GoT. I just gave the Witcher a chance, pretty good but I wasn't enthralled. Breaking Bad is my favorite show of all time, right next to GoT and The Office. Diversity, right there. I cannot get into network TV shows any more -- The Good Place (basically anything Michael Shur does) was great, though. 3% (Netflix show from Brazil) had one of the best seasons of television ever (you've gotta watch with subtitles -- my wife is from Brazil so that's how we found it), but season 2 - onward got really bland and really boring.

5. I'm now finding this list to be harder than I thought.

6. I got reeeeally into cocktails over COVID. A bar from Asbury (Laylow, best bar I've ever been to if you're ever in that area) hosted cocktail classes. You should see my booze shelf... I've got over 60 bottles of the most obscure things you can think of. They stare daggers at me when I make my same Whistle Pig 10y Old Fashioned every other night.

7. I'm getting a fvcking PUPPY in a few weeks! Red golden retriever, named Jersey.

8. While typing this message I've thought about golf seven times.

9. I'm designing and building my uncles house. That'll be cool. He's got a budget of $600k, and I'm currently working on a $28.8m house in my regular job. There's a part of your brain you have to shut off (or turn on?) when you're designing houses for regular people.

10. Oh thank god I made it to 10. My music taste is bizarre. I got randomly RIDICULOUSLY into MGK's new pop punk album. Always been a punk guy; OG greenday, pre-self-titled Blink 182. For some reason I got really into Post Malone, too. He's not for everyone, and that's ok. I saw him live and my dude was trippin balls but put on a hell of a show. For anyone who rolls their eyes and thinks he's just some soundcloud mumblerapper, take a look at his Nirvana cover concert. The dude absolutely fvcking shreds it, and it's mostly deep cuts. @SterioDesign would probably like that if you're a Nirvana fan. I spent six consecutive days last week listening only to the Stone Temple Pilots; I was pretty bummed when Weiland died. I saw him live after he broke off from STP at the House of Blues in Orlando, he played in front of maybe 20 people. Got to shake his hand before the show and thought "yeah, no chance he actually preforms." couldn't talk, stand up, anything. And then the lights come on and this guy blows the doors off the building. Different breed.

This is fun. Great call, SD. Sorry for ad-libbing the format.

Best wishes and enjoyment with your new best friend for life, Jersey.

That’s funny lol.

Mine came from an Etsy seller (in Canada), and I’m really impressed. Not only accurate to the movie but also very nice quality work.

I wore it out tonight, I’m wondering if people will realize what it is. Not so far.

One of my buddy/mentor made a fvcking insane Home Alone poster filled with easter eggs and there's a side small print with a checkmark list of easter eggs. I have them framed on top of my toilet so whenever my friend come here and go take a leak they try to find all the easter eggs. lol

See if you can find them all

Edit: I also have this rad shirt lol
