2021 New York Mets season thread

Mets had runners on second and third when the streak started.  Of course Conforto struck out to start the streak (and then struck out again to continue it).  He’s already reminded me why I’m not a huge fan of his.

Funny, other teams sure didn’t seem to have too much trouble with Nola as of late.  This is really aggravating.

Yeah right Conforto was going to keep that 7th inning rally going.  Nice job by Lindor though.  Hope more moments like this are coming.

I don't know how they do it. The Mets are like drunks stumbling around a casino, knocking into slot machines and constantly winning. It's ugly, it's sometimes comically inept and embarrassing. They go through stretches of looking hopeless like they've never stepped in a major league box before....but more often than not this year they have gotten it done. It's perplexing but I'll take it.

Good pitching just masks so much ugliness

Well said ‘7’.  They do their fair share of winning…somehow…but they do a lot of it in truly ugly fashion.  But baseball in 2021 is often pretty ugly, ain’t it?

Gotta give McCutchen tons of cred for that catch…damn.

Poor Peterson…would be nice if the staff didn’t have to be borderline perfect most games.

Yea Harper is about as arrogant a troll as can be (also has only solo hr's this year which is odd. 11 solo shots)

Would like to see him plunked next time for doing that.

Yeah something about Harper has always been irksome.  Mostly because he’s a little overrated...was kinda-sorta fun watching the Nationals win a World Series without him.

Diaz melting down again in a 'non-save' situation, what is it with these damn closers that some of them can't pitch in non-save situations?  And on top of it he seems to be one of the guys who benefitted from sticky stuff given how his spin rates have gone down.

Jesus christ Lindor, it's all set up for you to have a Met moment now and you take an 0-5 collar swinging at all balls.  Now it's up to Conforto to bail your ass out.

Good grief, I didn't think that would do it...guess Herrera's got a noodle arm in center.  Thank god.

Yeah Lindor makes it really hard to embrace him…but when you can’t seem to stay over .220, there’s gonna be a lot of failures.

Phillies gotta be flustered…three one-run leads in the final inning, and only one win to show for it.  Better them than the Mets.

5-6 so far in this run of division games…obviously not great, but at least they haven’t fallen apart and allowed the teams behind them to start nipping at their heels.  5 games up on the Nats, who have lost two in a row to the Marlins.  Amazing how these other NL East teams can’t seem to stay at .500, let alone get over it.

Phillies’ pen coughs up a couple more runs…def a problem spot for them.

Now 5-7 in this run of divisional games…could be worse, but definitely quite meh.  Hasn’t hurt them too much yet at least.

Four games left against NL East teams (then the Yankees).  Would love for the Mets to somehow win 3 of 4…that would give them an 8-8 record for the division game stretch.  All in all, considering the volume of games and the doubleheaders…I’ll take it.

Ugh, sucks to have a stiff like Eickhoff starting a game like this.  The Mets did get one more decent start out of him than they had any right to expect though.  But there’s just nothing there.

Now three dingers off Eickhoff…yikes.

Heh heh, did anyone really think the Mets were going to score a run with runners on first and second and no one out?  Would be nice if these dipsh!ts could actually not be last in runs scored.

Might as well leave Eickhoff in a couple more innings, even if he gets tagged for more runs…apparently it’s asking too much for this “healthier” lineup to score.  They’re just about out of excuses.

fvcking Castro…never trust guys who walk a ton of hitters.

And that’s that.  Of course Lindor makes the last out.

A game where one team's starting a retread starting pitcher and the other team is bullpenning it really shouldn't be a no-doubter by the fifth inning.  ****ing offense.  Of course when it finally shows a pulse our overrated bullpen throws it away.

Castro's another guy who seems to be affected by the crackdown on sticky stuff, you had to figure there would be at least a couple on the staff.
