Only jersey in his collection I am jealous of. I always say “one day I’m gonna own one”, while he’s out there living the dream.

As am I not a huge Brodeur fan, I am glad I was able to add one at a decent price.  Since it was a 1-period wonder, it was a bit cheaper than a full set one and I am A-OK with that.  In a funny coincidence, I believe either the 1st or 3rd period gamer from that same game was up on eBay 1-2 weeks ago.  The asking price was $5.5K.

Last game worn Devil's jersey I had was a hammered Randy McKay

You sold the rest?  I was actually wondering recently where you stood on your collection.

Finally got around to listening to the Daneyko spittin chiclets interview and my god, you should all go listen.

He is a wind up toy with talking though. Usually the hosts ask several questions and steer the interview. He just talked uninterrupted for like 2 hours. Went all over the place with his stories.

My biggest takeaway is that I’ll be way easier on him with how he commentates. Because, holy sh!t guys, there is not a single person on this planet who likes the Devils more than Dano. He is just so, so, so endlessly proud to represent our organization. It’s beautiful to hear.

I gained a ton of respect for him after listening to that interview. Definitely willing to give him another chance if I ever see him at a game again.

(I honestly thought I posted my reaction to the interview, but i’ll blame visiting family and the hurricane when I heard it)

I haven’t listened to it yet, but that’s always been the reason I like him so much. I’ve never tried to argue he’s particularly good at his job (I don’t think he’s nearly as bad as some do either though), but he truly does embody his nickname.

The best part about it is he talked so much that it really kept the guy with the douchey Boston accent at a minimum

I think Dano is a good compliment to Cangy. I've had Centre ice (and XM radio) & listen to a all other teams broadcast teams. IMO, Cangy/Dano are pretty darn good. My fave radio (p x p) guy is Isles. Love the fact Dano struggles with names.

I’ve said it before, at times he comes off like a doofy homer, but that’s really fine with me. Especially the homer part. Chico was my all time favorite and if you don’t think he was/is a homer, I don’t know what you were watching or listening to lol.

chico was more..... fun, though? he was so goofy and he brought levity to the broadcasts.

my main issue with dano is his “OH NOOOO” yells. salt in the wound when a big opportunity is squandered or a big goal is scored against us.

I think the bigger problem is that it’s so frequent because of how often we do that lol.

Agree with the bolded, but the way I would phrase it is that I find Chico more endearing, and Dano more annoying.  Not to say that I can't stand Dano, but between the "Oh boy!"s and the general tone of his voice (it's just not meant to be on air...too grating), if he's ever replaced, I'm not going to be heartbroken.

I’d only be on board for replacing him if he wants to leave. He’s Mr. Devil, he should be hanging around, and that job is the perfect spot for him to do so.

my go to joke lately at parties has been to look at my phone and GHASP loudly and say “that actress died! she was stabbed!!!! reese.... (long pause)”

someone inevitably goes “Witherspoon????” and you reply “no... with a knife.”

100% success rate so far

Simple and silly yet highly effective...

It’s a classic. Now change it to Wotherspoon, and it makes no sense.

Agreed about Chico. I miss him being on TV rather than the radio and I always appreciate how honest he is. I find Dano's analysis, as something that should add value to the broadcast, fairly weak. Sal does much better, especially from a technical standpoint, but I just wish he was a little more well spoken. That might come with some more time in front of the camera. Dano's homer qualities can get annoying, but he also he just doesn't know when to be quiet at times. Sometimes after a goal he'll be trying to yell things over the broadcast while the horn is still blowing-- I appreciate his enthusiasm, but good grief man.

Petterson is apparently looking at Marner for a comparable for his contract in Vancouver.

They are in trouble

A lot of guys to sign for next season too.  But it seems like so many teams in "trouble" find ways to move expendables, to make sure that they keep the players that they really want.

yeah maybe they can but what's the consequences? When you're already not great and that you have to sacrifice depth, it's never too good

I don’t know who Vancouver can move. They dumped a bunch of junk earlier this offseason already. They also gave Connor Garland a pretty decent deal too.

I referred to Quinn Hughes on Reddit as “future Devil Quinn Hughes”, and was told that he is about to sign a nice fat 8 year deal. That may complicate things even further, if a dude from Reddit is correct.

I think the rumor earlier this week was 8x8. Somehow they will have made the OEL gamble look like an even more awful decision if they can't make it work with Pettersson.
