Btw Many Saints of Newark was very good. Definitely worth the watch. If you’re a Sopranos fan, you’ll enjoy it.

I’ve been really surprised by how negative the reactions have been. I mean, it’s definitely flawed, but people are acting like it’s flaming hot garbage. I think a lot of people expected something totally different (basically for it to be entirely about Tony).

The new Mike Flanagan (The haunting of hill house, The haunting of bly manor, Doctor Sleep, Hush, Oculus, Gerald's Game, etc etc ) Netflix show is amazing too. I'd really recommend it.

I’m a huge fan of Mike Flanagan. I see his name attached to something — I’m watching it. I thoroughly enjoyed Midnight Mass. I love horror stuff with an isolated setting like that (island, snow, etc).

Yeah isolating your characters brings up so much tension to a story. For example, the crew of Outpost 31 in The Thing, the Nostromo crew in Alien, the Torrence family at the Overlook hotel in the Shining, all of us in NJDevs during the offseason... etc etc

I, like most people, absolutely hated the final season of GoT, but this looks pretty good…

I didn't hate the final season as much as most people, I had some issues with it but I also waited until the final season to watch the entire show so I wasn't waiting years for an ending so that probably factors into it too.

This looks great though, looking forward to it.

I liked a lot of the last season, but it also felt like they forgot what they were supposed to be building to.  And then the final episode ended like a wet fart.

Regardless, I’m very interested in what they do with this

So I was today years old when I found out that the old HBO "Feature Presentation" bumper was actually the beginning of a longer song with lyrics.

Heh heh I never knew that...

BUT, years ago, at a friend's 40th b-day, the DJ did a movie trivia contest (I cleaned up), and he played this song as the final item and asked its significance...with zero hesitation, I came up "Intro tune to HBO movies"...he said I was the first one ever to have gotten it right (found that surprising).  He then said, "Damned, you're the best I've ever seen at this, very impressive!"  I answered with "No, not really, just means I watched way too much fvcking TV in my youth!"

I’m a drummer myself…she’s pretty good, timing is a little off here and there, but not bad.  She’s already better than Lars (who is really not good, never really has been).

I have only very vague memories of one grandfather, who died when I was 2. I was lucky enough to have the other three grandparents for at least part of my life.

We saw No Time to Die tonight. Thought it was great. Easily the best Bond since Casino Royale.

Spoiler

And definitely a proper sendoff for Daniel Craig.

My only complaint with the movie is that Ana de Armas wasn’t in it more. The part she was in was fantastic though.

Lars was lucky in some ways, in that when Metallica was up and coming and on the rise (and signed with a record company that wasn’t well-known at the time), their style of music was new and different from other metal bands.  In many other situations, Lars would be the guy record companies would say “We’ll sign you on the dotted line immediately, but you gotta do something about your drummer…here’s some guys we think would be perfect for you…”

I’ve seen Metallica a number of times (supporting …And Justice For All and the black album), and Lars was pretty iffy during those shows…he throws in fills that often have little to do with what the rest of the band is doing, sometimes struggles to keep up, and in general has never been blessed with great “feel”.  What’s kinda funny is that he’s the second-best drummer…in Metallica.  James plays too and he’s pretty solid.

Not familiar with Barker’s work, but there’s a lot of terrific drummers out there…some killer session guys who aren’t as well-known as drummers who play with one band full-time, but are extremely versatile and can play just about anything.  Lars is unique in that he’s a real unrefined banger who never really got better through the years, but somehow seems to work within the world of Metallica in spite of himself.  Dude is teeny too…actually saw him in NYC, just chatting on his cell phone, right on the street…maybe 5’ 5” or so, tops.

Drummer for Blink 182 though he does so many other different projects in many different genres of music.

Ah gotcha, obviously know that band, just didn’t know his name.
