Yeah, I know. Honestly, I haven’t taken a CD out in like 10 years and the DVDs basically only if something isn’t streaming (like my horror movie binge watching; Elm Street was available on HBO Max so I watched it there; Friday the 13th is not available, so I’ll use the DVDs).

While in some aspects I spend money like I have money, I can’t bring myself to rent a movie from a pay as you go service when I have the DVD a foot and a half away from the TV.

In the grand scheme, neither of those 2 things takes up all that much space (I don’t keep the cases, they are in sleeves in storage boxes) and they aren’t the reason I don’t want to get rid of a $2,000 piece of furniture and redecorate my entire living room to add a couple of speakers lol.

Sure if I have a DVD or Blu-Ray of a particular movie, I'll pop it in, as opposed to renting or buying through DirecTV.  I've used my Blu-Ray for Harry Potter movies (bought my daughter the whole set a couple of Xmases ago, have watch four so far), Breaking Bad (finally watched it all this past spring), and Cobra Kai.  A couple of others that I'm not remembering.

I can't remember the last time I popped in a CD.  A lot of times, I'll just go on youtube and pick out what I want to listen to.  Depending on my mood, can pretty much be anything...I gravitate towards heavier stuff, but not all of the time.

I couldn't even tell you when I last listened to a CD. But I am 100% sure its one of th bands that I have every album for, I bought it, listened to it in the car for a while, put it in the box, and never went back to it again, and listened on Amazon Music thereafter.

The way my living room is structured, it’s perfect to have the TV in that corner. I know there are some wall mounts, but honestly, mounting a TV on the corner looks weird, like in a doctors office waiting room. Plus, aside from all the decorative stuff we also have on that unit, it also contains my CD collection, my DVDs, to game systems, cable box, DVD player, etc.

Not to mention that the unit fits perfectly in that corner, and was fairly expensive.

I could put the tv on a different wall, which would then require me to move the couch, which would then require me to move the stuff that’s hung on the wall above the couch. Then I would have to get rid of the wall unit, and come up with a different way to store all of that stuff that’s inside of it.

I like the idea of a sound bar, but I’m not going to redecorate my entire living room just to have one.

Well here's a few quotes for you

Random Devils sh!t...one of the best things about hockey-reference is that you can look up box scores of particular games embedded in your memory bank...like this one:

New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils Box Score — March 7, 1998 | Hockey-Reference.com

I was 27 and my brother (who had become a Rangers fan, though not nearly as hardcore as me with the Devils) was 26 at the time...for Xmas 1997, my dad had bought the three of us tickets for this game...he'd found some package where a pre-game buffet (at nearby Hooters) was included with the tickets.  So 3/7/98 comes along, and we all go...my bro in a non-personalized white Ranger jersey, me in my white #93 Gilmour jersey (the only authentic I'd own for quite a while...still have it), and my dad in...normal clothes (jerseys were never his thing).

Pre-game feast was OK, nothing all that memorable...me and my bro ran into some people we knew from high school, which was both completely random and kind of cool...was great to catch up with some people we hadn't seen in nearly 10 years.  Our seats were in one of the upper deck corners (a little below the middle row), and suffice it to say there were a lot of fans from both sides in attendance in our section, getting into it pretty good for much of the game...I gotta admit, crazy as it sounds now, it was actually relatively good-natured ribbing back and forth...occasionally things got heated, but nothing ever escalated into potential fisticuffs.  Anyway the Devils and Rangers traded goals over the first two periods...the Devils scored their first three goals on power plays...they needed all of 6 seconds to score on the first one, and 4 to score on their second...on the third one, they "slacked" and needed all of 38 seconds to score (so 48 seconds of power play time to score three goals, in case you're not keeping track at home, heh heh...we may never see this in a Devils game again).  My dad's commentary on that amounted to "Wow, the Rangers really suck at killing penalties, don't they?"  I offered, "No Dad, they suck at that and everything else!  That's what Rangers do!"

So halfway through the 3rd it's still 3-3, then the Devils finally seem to say "Enough" and quickly score three goals BAM BAM BAM (in about 3 1/2 mins) and put the thing away...at this point, Devils fans were REALLY letting the Rags fans have it (including my bro, which I found pretty goddamned hilarious...my bro was a pretty good sport about it).  My dad, who was only 48 at the time (younger than I am now, yikes) was a bit "overwhelmed" by it all...on the drive home he kept saying how "awful" everyone had acted...it was the first time I remember him starting to sound old.  I told him "Aw man, you should see what it's like when the Flyers are here.  Fights all over the place!"  He didn't go to another game until about 20 years later...and now he LOVES it.

Halloween Kills was an absolute dumpster fire, this had to be some of the most unlikeable and downright stupid supporting cast of characters in any movie ever, I was actually rooting for Michael to off everyone.

Besides milking it for more money there's no reason this should have been stretched out into a trilogy, whatever happens in Halloween Ends could have easily happened here.

Watching the leafs/rags game and this thought crossed my mind:

Why is Hava Nagila played on the organ of almost every sporting event? Never really had a second thought about it til today, but now it just seems SO ODD to me!

Edit: site note, now The Final Countdown is playing and I will FOREVER picture Job from Arrested Development dancing and doing magic every time I hear that damn song 🤣

I bet the first guy who did it was Jewish and it just stuck.

I did some googling and a bunch of different articles speculated that it was a way to get players of Jewish background more comfortable being part of the game, but no concrete history behind it. I think when you boil it down, it's just a damn catchy tune.

That’s for sure. Same reason that damn chicken song still gets played.

Not sure if this has been discussed but been watching All or Nothing with the Leafs. Really been enjoying it. Hoping it becomes a regular feature.

it's kind of like watching the movie Titanic for the first time though.

You know the at the end it will be "nothing"

I was yesterday years old when I realized that I was at Marty’s first ever shutout: the 4-0 win over Anaheim the first time the Devils ever played them.

Assuming that was in NJ, I was there as well. I was at the first home game vs. the Ducks.

I mean that made it better. All the optimism from the group knowing how it ended. It's like watching a car crash unfold.

It has been nice to see the characters at play. Having watched some of the football (soccer) ones in the UK this was quite reserved in terms of content.

Same.  Would love to find that pin someday (one day I'll have to see if I still have it).

That Ducks team was actually not half-bad for an expansion team (71 points in 84 GP).  They even beat the Rangers in both of their meetings that season.

I need a new TV show to binge on Netflix. My criteria are drama, made in America, in English. Nothing foreign, nothing comedic. All of the famous HBO shows and Netflix products I have already seen.

Ideally, I like to find something with a ton of seasons that I just happen to have overlooked.

Tell me about a show I may have missed.

It’s not on Netflix, but do you watch Succession on HBO? The 3rd season just started back up last week, and it’s soooo good.
