I've worn glasses since I was a kid, always wanted contacts but getting them in and out is a complete trauma for me. I just gave up - and I'm not a squeamish person by nature. But that? Hell no. 😆 Whenever I see someone struggling with a contact that's gone rogue or they start complaining about how dry their eyes are from wearing them...instant skeeves for me. Also I remember my 8th-grade science teacher talking about how wearing contacts in a chemical environment can cause them to "weld" themselves to your eyes (there's a lot more detail than this but I can't recall all of it). So yeah, glasses for me!

I can pop ‘em in and out without even needing a mirror 🤣

Jerrydevil
I wear daily contacts and they are expensive but convenient. To work on the laptop I wear the contacts and reading glasses. I used to be able to work with just contacts but age won't allow it anymore.

And of course, also LOTS of human fecal matter…eww.

I got really into learning about it for some reason in an insomnia night and found out a lot about the trash, dead, etc people leave there. https://martinedstrom.com/stories/everest-trash/ Not that it is not still a feat, but it has become a thrilling experience the rich can "buy". Many people do it every year now.

RunninWithTheDevil
One of the bodies near the summit of Everest is a climber who made it to the peak, and went into cardiac arrest 20 mins later on the hike back down

Of course now that I look it up I can't find any stories that line up with my description but AFAIK, Green Boots is farther down from the summit outside of a small alcove on the side of the mountain, and they still haven't positively ID'd the body

pumpkin cutter
i drove up to the top of mt evans years ago. i think it was 14k. almost passed out after walking 100 yards around the top. hiking Everest. lol that's just legit crazy, hence why there's not many that do it. sucks the floaters get stuck there, but there's nothing they can do. Actually when you think about it, winning the Stanley Cup is more rare than climbing mount everest. About 800 people reach the summit every year, only 1 team wins the Cup every year
