If he was looking for the most money he could get, he probably wouldn’t have said that. Hmm… don’t think I’ve ever heard one of them mention they want to come back and not actually mean it

Brewskies
6 hours ago, Devil Dan 56 said: Team friendly would be great if he’s staying on the second pairing and getting some kind of help. His offense has been great. He needs help with his decision making for sure but he’s not the kind of player you can just replace. My worry about him though has been that he’s a prime candidate to get huge offers as a UFA. I’m not sure how team friendly his contract could be if his agent gets him to the open market I believe he has another year with the Devils. Right-hand shot defensemen are hard to come by. Severson helps with the offense, but he tends to make bad decisions. That is why he is a toss up for me. I have never heard that he said he wanted to remain a Devil. I suspect he will want max money, why not, he knows he is always a risk to be traded. I would trade him. I'll take good defense over his production on offense. The Devils need goaltending and defense first. Then they need some scorers. Just because they have 4 20-goal scorers, you must consider scoring is up this season. DevsMan84
FWIW just from the eye test, Severson (along with PK) have probably been our best d-men since the ASG. Go figure. Meanwhile Siegenthaler regressed a bit since all those articles praising him came out around the ASG time. Dougie hasn't been the same since his injury as well. He’s currently one of the better value contracts out there. That's the list of D-men filtered by points and their current contracts. The further down the list it certainly becomes obvious the Damon is good value in the context of that list.
Devilsfan118
So got the typical email begging for my Dad and I go to come to the last game of the year and get the season tickets sales pitch. I know these ticket reps have a job to do - but honestly who would hop on season tickets right now?
jagknife
Not saying it’s here, but there are WAY too many people jumping on the “Bring PDB back to NJ!” bandwagon, especially since last night probably sealed Vegas not making it. The guy can win a conference title with established rosters but we are not that… yet. He isn’t the answer, IMO

Colorado Rockies 1976
No to PDB. Been there done that. But I had to choose between and Rough, I’m taking PDB.

mfitz804
Lock up @MB3, these moves may mean there's a Mackenzie on the loose. Edited April 20 by mfitz804
Chimaira_Devil_#9
Good on Fitz for giving Okhotiuk a shot at the end of the season. I look forward to Dano mutilating that name over the next few games. Glad Daws is also back with Utica. Hopefully he can see out the season on a high and get that playoff experience. I don't care if Blackwood is back at this stage , go with Hammond or Gillies , who gives a fvck.

Devil Dan 56
Interesting note on Severson… he now has 51 career goals, meaning only Niedermayer, Stevens, and Driver have more goals for a Devils defenseman

I was pretty surprised to hear that. First guy that came to mind was Rafalski, who only had 45. I was surprised to see (or to recall) that Rafalski never had a double digit goal total in any season. As prolific as he was offensively, it was all assists. In fact, he only had two double digit goal totals in Detroit (10 and 13) in his entire career.

titans04
Regarding Blackwood we have 6 games left in which he maybe gets 3-4 at the most if everything goes well. All it may prove is that he can possibly get through those games. I don't think it ups his trade value any and I don't think it proves he's good enough to be counted on next season regardless of how he plays. It's way too small of a sample size under the most meaningless of circumstances. It's far too late to prove anything meaningful imo. If he plays one and has to go back on IR, that would have an impact on his trade ability, don’t you think? Also, looking at the schedule with no back to backs and some gaps between games, if he were healthy and effective he could play them all. Not that I would suggest doing that with a goalie that just came off of IR.
