They only got fined $2m for covering up a rapist, we got $3m and picks for playing the Blackhawks circumvention game…. Must be nice to be in the original 6 circle of protection

Actually wound up being "only" $1.5 million (NHL halved the fine after a while) and they got a first-rounder back, but yeah, sure seems fvcked up, don't it?

Quenneville and Cheveldayoff should resign next.

Hard to imagine that isn't coming, with statements similar to what Bowman said.

One question is does anyone involved ever find their way into the NHL again?  Not saying that they absolutely should...more just wondering aloud.

It's a tricky situation. Do we know that they knew it happened 100% or that they knew about the allegations?

Cause that's a huge difference. They are not judges, they are running a hockey team and if things were under investigations, they can't really do much other than keep things under wrap until there's a verdict and know for sure.

If they knew 100% that it happened then obviously that's an easy one on how it should be handled

Quenneville has Florida off to their best start in franchise history. That franchise better do the right thing.

"Winning At All Costs, We're Going To Look The Other Way For Now And Let The Process Take Its Course" is not going to go over well...that's exponentially bad optics.  I'm not sure how much press covers the Panthers, but I gotta think the questions will be relentless.  Can't see Q staying for all that long, and he'll exit with the three-part statement:

...thankful for the opportunity that the Panthers gave me...

...don't want to become a distraction to this young and talented team...

...it was an honor to have coached the Panthers, and to have played and coached in the NHL...

Quenneville also lied and said he had only heard about the allegations ‘through the media’: https://floridahockeynow.com/joel-quenneville-gary-bettman-chicago-blackhawks-report-florida-panthers/

Q has to be gone. Seems like he actively helped the guy get future jobs and stay around the sport.

Then he most certainly needs to go.

And his cousin gets unnecessarily hard, too!

So Drouin accidentally dropped the news that Weber "basically retired" and was working with Bergevin in the scouting department.

That's a big problem cause they didn't announce anything and Weber retiring is realllly fvcking up MTL and even more Nashville.

Weber has five seasons remaining on his contract with an annual salary-cap hit of $7.857 million. Bergevin believes the NHL will allow the Canadiens to put Weber on long-term injured reserve, which would provide salary-cap relief from his contact. If Weber decides to retire because of his injuries, the Nashville Predators would have a “cap recapture” penalty of just over $4.9 million per season through 2025-26, which is when Weber’s contract expires. So that's like 24-25millions they'd have to dish.

They actually have to dish the full amount, its just reduced in terms of the cap hit, no?
