If you don’t trust your head coach to make those decisions, why even hire him? 100%. You'd have to think it's trust or control issue. It's no different from any organization or company. I'm a director for a large organization across the country and I manage a small team of people - my boss doesn't tell me who to hire and how to run my department. If he did, he wouldn't need me and could do it himself. You have to trust people to make the right decisions and give them the opportunity and ability to succeed.

But I want accountability (because there seems to be not enough right now), and one thing with Torts is he will hold your ass accountable. Although I admit we probably need someone with a better bedside manner than Torts with such a young group. If you're looking to hold together a group of established players/veterans and get them into a system with some discipline, Torts is your guy. Not so much if you have a team full of younger players needing to build confidence through development

If you go Torts you’re probably gonna need a “player’s” coach as an assistant to smooth things over from time to time. Torts likes to fire guys up and not everyone responds to that. The other downside is that act only lasts so long. But oh would the press interactions be fun

I’d love to see the look on Torts’ face when Amanda asks him what he thinks about the power play looking ‘great’ after scoring the first power play goal in three weeks, and giving up 8. 3

Fitz let them stay before, might as well keep the trend so his best buddy can build on his legacy as a sh!t player (nASS) Dougie and Jack are the only two I care about their opinion on a head coach, the rest can duck off. Pepperkorn
Oy. I’m kind of so relaxed and chill about hockey these days … do I even want to venture near the event horizon of this rabbit hole? (Yeah, some major mixed metaphors here what of it?)
Pepperkorn
OK. I will say - when you go bonkers picking winning coaches willynilly - well. You kind of get a Rangers kind of thing going. You’re not building a foundation for ongoing consistency. I’m torn. I can’t focus because all that runs through my mind is "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds“. maybe what I’m trying to say is “fvck Tortarella”. And notice everyone started calling him the Fonz for a while. That was my husbands thing. No one said it before that. I swear someone stole so much of my material back in the day …

Fansinz88
I will take tortorella in a second of the garbage we have at the moment. Try to get something out of this group before it has to be blown up again.
DevsMan84
So right now I am in the mindset where the only way to fix the coaching issues is to fire all 3 of them. After last night, I want Ruff gone. In 5v5, guys like McLeod and Bastian had more minutes than Hughes and Bratt. That's Brent Sutter level of inexcusable ineptitude. Why does Ruff feel necessary to have McLeod take literally EVERY SINGLE D-ZONE FACEOFF regardless of which line is one? It's penny-wise, pound-foolish thinking that is killing this team in addition to the absolute dog-sh!t special teams from the assistant coaches. I really wonder how long it will take to get these clowns fired. Fitz can throw any sort of good-will he banked with the fans in the next few days if the Three Stooges preside over a series of continuing losses.

These meetings are focused on understanding, on learning by both parties. "It's not, you should do this. It's you really want to understand what they're seeing from their perspective as well. Inside our system, there are things that you must do this. But sometimes, you know, you'll understand the read they had because of you know, either the touch we were getting, or maybe it was a 50/50 touch on a puck and you'll understand why they went to certain place. And sometimes it's vocalized on the ice where we don't hear it." I read this and was like what the fvck is he talking about. It's a statement that sums this team up. A bit all over the place and not overly commited.

Fansinz88
But yet they still will. Fitzgerald is really disappointing me and turning into the say nothing do nothing gm we have come to be too accustomed to. Just another disaster year by early December. So if someone reads a play wrong, or is totally out of position, the staff basically just listens to their excuse? What was Siegenthalers excuse for leaving the front of the net wide open when Severson and Bernier fumbled the puck against Winnipeg??
