A decade on...

I still get goosebumps watching this.

I love this particular clip as it's 2 minutes long.  In it you get to appreciate the mastery of Doc not only with the original call on the goal but also the genius of letting the moment speak for itself.

From 18 second in to 1 minute 38 you just have the moment and it's perfect.

The flip side of seeing this is realising it's been 10 years without to many more meaningful moments outside the Hall season.

I literally crave nights like this again. Watching the playoffs this year and seeing the emotion hits home even more.

I was in 121. We had a nice view of the chaos. What a great night that was. I used to drive down to the games after work from Sterling Forest, NY and then all the way back up to near West Point after the games. I used to hate that drive home but that night it was awesome

Now I live 15 minutes from the arena and hardly ever go lol

It's funny how that stuff works. The first restaurant my wife and I went to together, before we even started dating, was Red Robin. Then when we dated we used to go there because I worked in the Mall and it was right there. When it closed, it was a little depressing.

Then we found one in Hershey, PA when we went on a trip out there. After that, every once in a while we would make the 2.5 hour drive, have lunch, walk around Chocolate World or go to the zoo, and then go home.

Then, they opened one again in the very same Mall where I used to work. We never went there lol.

I guess part of it is probably that we are no longer teenagers and a Red Robin is no longer exciting. But there is a corollary to draw there because Devils hockey is also no longer exciting.

I was in section 131. The place exploded when Henrique scored that goal. Then I saw them in Game 1 of the SCF only to lose to the Kings who looked like they were on another level.

The pre-game music intro for that series was sick, with the sonar ping.

Would love to see them bring this back if/when we make it to the postseason.

A great moment-- I'm tired of seeing it. We're long overdue for new ones to talk about. I hate that I feel like I'm turning into the Rags fans I used to make fun of for constantly reliving replays of 94 while the Devils were actually in the playoffs winning things.

Stop it. It never gets old, and I will never being tired of seeing it. I agree with you that it’s time for new memories, but it chaps my ass when people use a great memory as an excuse to complain about the present. That’s what we have the off-season thread for. Just watch and enjoy, and have faith that sh!t will turn around soon.

That was such a fun run, in part because it was such an unlikely bunch. Josefson, Harrold, S. Gionta, Bernier, and Fayne were all on a team that made it to the finals? And players like Salvador, Ponikarovsky, and Carter stepped up and played major roles for that team. Of course there were a few star players in the mix there, but that group really found a way to put it all together and make an impressive run.

I just looked up my seats, I was in Section 4, I would have sworn it was 3.  Didn't have a great view of the goal.  Had no idea what happened other until they showed the replays, loudest I've ever heard the Rock.

Beating the Rangers that year was like an exorcism for this fan base. I never celebrated so much after a win. It felt like it made up for the loss in '08 and all the crap with Avery, the loss in '97, and the losses in '92 and '94.

Personally the sweep in 06 really felt like the exorcism for me since it was the first time we actually beat them in the playoffs and even more so cause we absolutely spanked them. The Madden short handed goal in game 2 was one of the loudest moments ever in the old arena. There were so many Devils fans at MSG for game 4 and we were loud too.

I drove down a bunch of my friend's streets with a Devils flag and a broom waving out of the car that year to get a little bit of payback for all the sh!t talking I had to listen to over the years, it was amazing to finally have that you can't beat us in the playoffs line finally be erased.

Shame that we lost to Carolina right after because if we got by them I think that Devils team would have won the Cup.

This really doesn't do it justice for how loud it actually was...

Yeah I was at that game and the roof blew off on the Madden SHG. We were going NUTS.

There has never been a louder building than CAA during madden’s shorthanded goal in game 2 against the rangers in 2006. I felt it in my jaw.

The only time it was louder was game 7 of the SCF in 2003. The upper level was literally swaying back and forth every time we scored.
